Biden Would Reportedly Prefer Not to Investigate Trump’s Many Crimes

Democratic president once again gives criminal Republican president a pass on crimes which took place under their term.

If this is anything more than an attempt by Biden to try to ease Trump into a concession and transition, this is the absolute worst.

We're so lucky as a nation that Trump is so completely incompetent that he literally can't stop shooting himself in the foot by way of saying the quiet parts loud and throwing everyone around him under the bus, or else the fascism swing would've been in full force unbeknownst to their Republican base. Seeing how their constituents have moved toward disinformation and blind partisanship, the next Trump is coming and will be here much sooner than we realize, and will be far, far worse. If this administration is not held accountable (their handling of the coronavirus and the situation with children at the border should be considered human rights abuses), what comes next will make this look like child's play.

All this would do would serve to reinforce Republican framing, all while the right-wing propaganda machine continues to demonize the left and incite far right domestic terrorism. Meanwhile, Democrats still dream of the day they can reach across the aisle and work hand in hand with Republicans, all while at this point the right in Congress serves only to be obstructionists.

I think it is Biden's message to the country that he is not seeking revenge. The important part, though, is that "he will not interfere with his Justice Department and not politicize his Justice Department", because it means he will also not seek to curb any investigation into Trump's many abuses.

His appointment for Attorney General will be very telling. Democrats have not traditionally been very keen on holding Republicans accountable for crimes committed in office.

Indeed, that will probably be the determining factor in where the journey is going to end.

Democrats have not traditionally been very keen on holding Republicans accountable for crimes committed in office.
I think we can agree that we live in unprecedented times. However conciliatory Biden himself may feel, he will have plenty of advisors to weigh his appetite for peace against the electorate's hunger for accountability.

One of the few reasons I check in on Twitter every day is to read the thoughts of people like Walter Shaub. Not only does he bring levity with his humor, he also says pretty much exactly all this^. I find it reassuring that at least a few people with a lot of influence have no intention of giving Trump a free pass for the sake of not wanting to rile up his base. Crimes are crimes, and letting him get away with anything is far too dangerous a precedent.

I really think there should be more focus on "immanent danger" too (recklessly creating dangerous situations, e.g. yelling "fire!" in a crowded theater), when making that list.

I really hope the relief of a stable adult in office doesn't turn into indifference about accountability.

You can provide more information, but it seems from my reading that at first Trump was threatening Kim Jong Un, who sent Trump excessively flattering letters to "kiss his ass", and talked Trump into taking U.S. troops out of South Korea. It seems like Kim Jong Un did most of the work.

Trump started by taunting him on Twitter with statements like this:
Just heard Foreign Minister of North Korea speak at U.N. If he echoes thoughts of Little Rocket Man, they won't be around much longer!"

Kim Jong Un's "love letters" showing he initiated the favor. Trump can be credited with agreeing to meet on North Korean soil for diplomacy.
"Even now I cannot forget that moment of history when I firmly held Your Excellency's hand at the beautiful and sacred location as the whole world watched with great interest and hope to relive the honor of that day," Kim wrote to Trump on December 25, 2018, following their first meeting in Singapore.
Another meeting "between myself and Your Excellency," Kim added, would be "reminiscent of a scene from a fantasy film."
Trump's responses are more straightforward but nevertheless filled with flattery."

Update on where this diplomacy stands.
Never again will we provide the U.S. chief executive with another package to be used for achievements without receiving any returns," Ri said, referring to Trump.

"Nothing is more hypocritical than an empty promise."

Well, first of all my original post wasn't about anything to do with Trump and Un. I was using it as a reaction gif to the general state of things.

Secondly, I think Trump's efforts to deescalate things with North Korea is significant. I don't however, see it happening instantly. If you know anything about Kim Jong Un, you will know he traveled abroad most of his life. He inherited his forfather's legacy. He was expected to be just as ruthless. But I have a feeling he has no idea what he is doing, is scared he will be assassinated by his sister (who is like Azula). I think Trump got to him, and broke through somewhat. Trump offered him peace, and it could have happened. But that required Un trusting him. Trump definately offered him trade deals, and sold him modern civilization. But this prosperity relies completely on Un, and he knows it. He is afraid of dying and being taking over. Either way, he's shown he is willing to compromise, but not in the way most want.

It was dead well before now. The sole purpose of all of this is to convince MAGA folk that this election was stolen through massive fraud. That way, Trump didn't actually lose. Rather, Biden, the demented far left radical criminal pedophile China-puppet and his ANTIFA George Soros Dominion DemocRATS rigged the election and stole it from Trump. Because people like me lack morals and want to destroy the beloved GOD Emperor, the only man strong enough to save this beautiful country from our terrible socialism.

If it's dead, it's always been dead. Everything still has to get sorted out for posterity and criminal charges for anyone that did commit voter fraud, but the will of the people will stand, whatever the result. Some conservatives might convince themselves of a stolen election via voter fraud because they're not big on the thinkin'n'shit, but others who are more evidence-based look at it a lot differently. The basic general consensus among all of them though is that this was not a free and fair election, voter fraud or no voter fraud. While likely not outright rigged, it was definitely tilted pretty significantly towards Joe Biden- a tilt without which he likely would not have won. Though there's so many things anyone could point to, because of how close it was- a good portion of them being Trump's own fault- so there's plenty of room to see what you want to see and blame what you want to blame.

In my book the ball is on the Biden's half of the playground. Therefore now he simply has to go in front of the cameras pretty much every day and present detailed/serious plans and policies of how he will turn around the ship. In other words if you do this correctly that should greatly reduce the numbers of those that don't accept the results. In other words someone needs to explain to all these people that their lives aren't over.

Maybe this is too much to expect but that should be the right move. Especially since he simply has to turn the ship around, because the country simply doesn't have the time for another politically static presidency. Someone simply has to start cleaning up the mess that is pilling up for decades at this point.
