Okay upon reading a more detailed response:
Keep in mind this isn't quite my major but my grandpa has taught me off and on a lot about things like this because he worked in electronics and programs, and I've been learning HTML and etc. in college so I know a little.
I would definitely be checking everything that used the program or has that version because it is either a sign the coding was put in wrong or that the coder intentionally attempted to sway the results. I say intentionally because sadly I don't trust anyone. XD
Okay, first of all there is no information given in that article to provide a real analysis of what happened or why. And I have worked with/in computer systems and/or development for 30+ years and people have bitched about electronic tallying systems since at least the 2000 presidential election. So this kind of complaint is nothing new. Each should be considered in turn.
When I tried to search on the incident in question, my first note is that the only articles that showed up were from right-wing / pro-trump news orgs (fox, ny post, etc.) No more balanced media were included. This suggested to me that there was some kind of response already offered that dissuaded other media from seeing a need to follow up on the story.
The tenth item on the list was mlive (which I think means Michigan Live) -- I figured they'd give a more detailed and accurate rundown. While their information is hidden behind a firewall, it gives you the article for about 10 seconds before their popup blocks reading, so I managed to captured the text of their article. You can see it on the site itself if you are willing to make a free account.
Here is the link and the article, which covers a number of accusations that the GOP chairwoman made earlier on Friday. I colored the appropriate text red. It looks like someone did not make a software update in the county; I don't need to say that this kind of things happens all the time, and I work for fedgov. I just made updates this week again to my laptop for teleworking, and coworkers who missed the update suddenly couldn't logon or had other glitches, but it's easy to miss an update. Once the update was made, it tabulated correctly. As noted, they have multiple processes in place to catch such discrepancies, so it was and would have been caught and corrected.
The Michigan Secretary of State’s office strongly rebuked Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel’s claims of ballot counting irregularities in the state Friday evening.
In a lengthy statement, the department released a bulleted point-by-point list refuting various allegations made by McDaniel Friday afternoon about the integrity of Michigan’s voting system, saying the claims are “false†and “have no merit.â€
“Michigan’s elections were conducted fairly, effectively and transparently and are an accurate reflection of the will of Michigan voters,†the first bullet point reads.
Unofficial results show former Vice President Joe Biden defeated President Donald Trump in Michigan by more than 146,000 votes — well over the 10,704 vote margin Trump won Michigan with against Hillary Clinton in 2016. The Associated Press and other outlets have called the race in Biden’s favor.
The statement addressed claims made Friday afternoon by top state and national Republican officials that Democratic officials oversaw a “shameful†attempt to block Republicans from serving as election challengers during absentee ballot counting in Oakland County and in Detroit, as well as insinuations that initial inaccurate reports in Antrim County were cause for broader concern. No evidence was offered to substantiate the claims.
“As Detroit officials have stated, hundreds of challengers from both parties were inside their absent voter counting board all afternoon and evening. And even after some left, there were always challengers from both parties in the room,†the statement reads. “Further, some windows were covered to stop those outside from filming the people and private information in the counting board, while other windows were left uncovered to ensure additional transparency.â€
The department’s statement also echoed comments from Detroit elections advisor Chris Thomas, the former Michigan Director of Elections, who earlier Friday addressed claims that he directed a worker to backdate a number of ballots. In his own statement, he called the allegations “unfounded.â€
“The accusations are wrong and reveal the person making them doesn’t know Michigan’s election process,†he said. “The scenario described actually shows a process designed to eliminate errors working to do just that.â€
Thomas said some ballot envelopes would not scan into the Absent Voter Poll List and the Qualified Voter File (QVF) was reviewed to try to figure out the problem. When a worker is entering a ballot envelope, the last step is for the worker to enter the date stamped on the envelop and hit the “save†button. After that, a “4th step position†is supposed to become visible on the screen to show that all steps were taken, but that didn’t happen in these cases.
The workers were told by the supervisors to review the envelopes using the QVF, Thomas said, and told that if it was a clerical error, to enter the date the ballot was received in the satellite office and hit save. The ballot was then placed in the Absent Voter Poll List so it could be processed and counted.
“None of these ballots were received after 8 p.m. on Election Day,†Thomas said. “Most were received on Monday, November 2nd – the busiest day for the satellite offices.â€
Thomas also said that the entire process was discussed and demonstrated for several Republican challengers, who then chose to not file a challenge to those ballots.
“In the heat of the moment responsible officials should avoid denigrating the election process without verifying their information,†Thomas said.
During the Friday press conference in Oakland County organized by Trump Victory — a combined effort of the Republican National Committee, Trump campaign, and Michigan Republican Party — McDaniel and Michigan GOP Chair Laura Cox said they don’t not have faith in the ongoing process of canvassing the election results. She said “hundreds†of reports have been collected by the GOP, including a whistleblower’s account that was referred to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Eastern District of Michigan.
The RNC chair accused the Detroit officials and Benson of misleading reporters when asked about the situation in TCF Center. Republicans complained that the windows of the TCF Center were obscured as protesters tried to enter the building.
Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox expressed concern about a software glitch in Antrim County that caused results to be inaccurately reported. The county caught the mistake on election night and recounted each ballot by hand.
Cox said 47 counties used the same software.
“These counties that used this software need to closely examine their results for similar discrepancies,†Cox said.
The Secretary of State statement described the erroneous reporting from Antrim County as an “accidental error†by the Antrim County Clerk, who the department said did not update the software used to collect voting machine data and report unofficial results.
“The equipment and software did not malfunction and all ballots were properly tabulated,†the statement reads. “In order to report unofficial results, county clerks use election management system software to combine the electronic totals from tabulators and submit a report of unofficial results. Because the clerk did not update software, even though the tabulators counted all the ballots correctly, those accurate results were not combined properly when the clerk reported unofficial results.â€
The correct results “always were and continue to be reflected on the tabulator totals tape and on the ballots themselves,†according to the department’s statement. “Even if the error in the reported unofficial results had not been quickly noticed, it would have been identified during the county canvass.â€
Any reports that the county had to or will have to hand count every ballot is “completely false," the statement continued.
Rochester Hills City Clerk Tina Barton also called out a claim McDaniel made Friday that 2,000 Republican ballots were found Thursday night that had been given to Democrats due to a clerical error, taking to Twitter to say the characterization was inaccurate.
“The accusation that 2,000 ballots were found is categorically false," she said in a video posted on social media. "As a Republican, I am disturbed that this is intentionally being mischaracterized to undermine the election process.â€
The Republican Party’s claims and the Secretary of State response come one day after Trump addressed the nation, repeating a number of false claims of election misconduct in various states and even suggesting he’d won the race in Michigan.
Trump suggested widespread voter corruption in multiple states and claimed Republican poll watchers were illegally blocked from observing absentee ballot counting in Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania.
“We were way up in Michigan, won the state,†Trump said, “and that got whittled down.â€
McDaniel said Friday legal teams were deployed to Michigan and three other states to investigate various claims, but said it’s too early to say whether Republicans will seek a recount in Michigan.
I find it telling they even have Republicans involved in the election process either dropping their claims or telling everyone to chill and not make false claims. There's so much noise nowadays with basically opinionists inundating the media, real data gets drowned out. Even when something gets debunked, it is just tossed around for weeks afterwards or even persists for long periods of time. If you read something that could be biased or feels sketchy, I would just google around to get a sense of what else is out there. It might still come out to competing views, but a bigger picture inevitably does open up.
I included the other incidents to show how much of this is Trump campaign trying to control the narrative. They just need to make lots of accusations, to stir up their base and throw the veracity of the count in doubt; it's something Trump is good at in general, eroding trust and casting doubt. Note that in Michigan and PA (for example), despite all of these court filings and claims of not being represented, they have always been allowed in the rooms and HAVE always been in the rooms. I remember a year or two back when the GOP made some big show about "crashing" a hearing (maybe it was part of the impeachment trial), as if they had not been allowed in the room... but they had equal representatives in the room from both parties at the time and were equally represented before the 'show'. It is about showmanship and public opinion and misleading people to follow a narrative that somehow they are being cheated.
I just couldn't watch the earlier rambling, it's mentally exhausting, but I will probably have to watch that. Kind of the reason I sucked it up and watched the first debate live -- and boy was I not disappointed.

I don’t use Facebook! Admittedly, I stole it off my roommate who has a kid. Who either stole it off social media—or humans are all thinking much of the same thing. Either is possible today.
I should’ve put that in quotes. That’s the second time I’ve committed theft this week. The fabric softener was probably the worse of the two.
"We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don't want the truth to be exposed." Trump's statement read. "The simple fact is this election is far from over."
He added: "I will not rest until the American People have the honest vote count they deserve and that Democracy demands."
