Well I got not rhyme or reason for this post, so I'm just gonna blurt shit out.

1. Pretentiousness peeves me. I see articles commending certain people for being such wonderful human beings. He's a war hero! He saved people! This woman's a paramedic who loves her job! Paramedics are special people devoted to helping others! This guy started a wonderful new health clinic! What a great guy!

Shut the fuck up. We do not need idols. If someone wants to do really nice things for others, s/he does NOT need the public adoration. You do nice things to do nice things, not for showers of exaggerated kind words. I'm pretty damn sure even the most heroic of heroes are human, and they have their shortcomings. I don't like to see all the idolization. I'd like to see an article more like "This guy's a moody prick, but he did perform some self-sacrificing acts that most people would not have done". How's that? More realistic I'd say. Brass tacks, no bullshit. I HATE having to have my bullshit meter up all the time. Like, it doesn't fool me. It just gives me more shit to filter through.

It's great that someone did something nice, but when you turn that person into an idol, whatever that person says or does doesn't need justification anymore. It's like "this is correct because so and so said so". Or "we should be more like XYZ and behave like him/her" in every respect. Just because someone does something really great, doesn't mean that everything they say or do automatically becomes the gospel truth and perfect way of being.

2. Stop your fucking bitching. Stop it. Just stop it. Just... stop. Well, ok maybe just a little... NO!!! Stop! I complain about shit too. All the time. There are things that bother me, or that I'm not happy about. But there is a dividing line between just saying "I'm not happy about that and here's why" and going on and on and on and on and fucking on about it. YOU'RE A VICTIM. OK. GREEAT. WHERE DO YOU GO FROM HERE? Politics is a great example! People love to bitch about dirty sleazy slimy dishonest greedy selfish scum of the earth politicians. Every person of power in public office is subject to boatloads of criticism. It's not all true, but some of it is. What bothers me is when people bitch and bitch and bitch about how much they dislike a particular powerful figure. Say, whoever the President or Prime Minister or Premier or is at the time.

Thing is, your bitching doesn't change anything. I mean, I suppose it can. You mobilize enough people who agree with you, you pull the right strings, apply the right pressure points, and yeah, you'll see some change. But most people don't really think. They just bitch. Verbal diarrhea. Think... think.... think...... if your goal is to spread awareness, then think about how you're going to reach people... and I mean REALLY reach people and make them believers. Random thoughtless bitching isn't going to do it.

And, this isn't to say I support or am against any particular political figure, or that I suppose or oppose protest in general. I'm just.... calling what I see here. Whoever you oppose is in a position of power over you because they are smarter than you. They didn't sit on the internet bitching. The reason you're sitting in your basement whining, and they're in the position of power, is because they are smarter than you. They outmaneuvered you. They outplayed you. Now you can whine about how unethical whoever is, but at the end of the day, you're the one who got screwed. That's how it works, sorry about that. The world's cold like that. You can't be a nice guy and come out on top. You have to be an effective guy, and when that calls for being not so nice, then you gotta do it. Or a more effective guy will pwn you. You might not like this, but you gotta get over it.
