As I tried to explain: there are decent odds that the whole tariff thing could have some side-effects that weren't part of the plan.
But to get into that you need to understand the cards that others at the table are holding. After all in 21th century Republican presidents have proven to be great for higher integration of EU member states. Since they create external pressure that makes sure that things actually get done.
trump still has the same views on tariffs that he did in the 80's before internet and globalization this is the group of turning the clock back while not cogently realizing just how far the world has really moved on.

Truth to be told I have such people as well at home, but such parties usually have something like 2 to 7 percent in the polls these days. Plus it is worth saying that their base is made mostly out of very old people or people with evidently low education levels (usually it is both). However even such parties support socialized healthcare, sick leave or affordable housing. Because that is just common sense. What in a way shows just how much off the rails USA actually is at this point (in my book).

To illustrate what I mean about sensationalism and partisonship:

You might have read or heard somewhere that "the GOP is now openly quoting Goebbels" or something along that line.

What happened is that there was a hearing about the Biden administration's Disinformation Governance Board (DGB). Republican congressman Keith Self apparently got up that morning thinking he had a clever plan to show it to the libs because he asked the leader of the DGB Nina Jankowicz the same question over and over again, trying to get her to say something specific he wanted to hear so that he could then compare it to a quote he had found and demonstrate how what she said was supposedly eerily similar to the quote. Only he didn't get her to say it. But he then went on to deliver the quote anyway.

Here's the transcript I found on Snopes:

A Dem present in the room then went on to be scandalized that he quoted Goebbels, acting as if he had endorsed the quote rather than tried to accuse Jancowicz of living by it. Both is idiotic and childish. Leftwing content creators then went on to spread the story, often misspelling the name Goebbels in the process.

For f*ck's sake, there is so much to criticize and attack Trump and the GOP on that 25 hours barely was enough to talk through it and yet I keep seeing stupid stuff like this. Do better.

The turn outs are huge. Don't let the Corpos tell you any different.
This is gonna be the next Occupy Movement.
They're gonna try to kill the story.
Don't let them.
Pass it on.
Millions are resisting.

The protests went great - I attended one in a small city near me. I was shocked at how many people were there - I've heard 5 million nationwide. Anyway, if you are interested, I assure you it will make you feel better to be around people with the same complaints as you have. April 19 is the next but there are many events.

Now let's see how people feel about a general strike. I know, I'm reaching there.

This had better be orders of magnitude larger than the occupy movement. That never really led anywhere. We need real results this time.

Occupy was broken up by the corpo news media machine. Recall that while Occupy was building up movement, the news outlets were over reporting every divisive story they could throw out to come between people before something stuck with Zimmerman v Martin. I doubt they'll find something that divides people more than this is bringing them together, but 4/20 is coming and Scuttlebutt is folk are worried that Durr Leader is gonna declare Martial Law. Everyone is hoping not but we'll see. But yeah It's gotta hold up better than Wallstreet did.

This is what the media here does. They fixate on the most pointless, most meaningless shit and completely dismiss anything that's impacting real people. They've been doing this since 2015 so I don't expect them to change.

So they canned the head of SSA's OSA (Office of Systems Architecture) this week because he said putting living immigrants on the Death file was illegal and cruel.

Don't be surprised if they start abusing the crap out of this file. Killing off people so they can no longer get work, lose access to their bank accounts, and create other financial vulnerabilities is a simple and easy way to destroy one's enemies.

One of the problems in the USA is that professional journalism has been all but destroyed here. There is only room left for either large corporate news outlets or small fringe right/left rags staffed by writers penning articles from a place of strong confirmation bias. We can’t do any better because this is all that’s left now

Photos of Governor Shapiro’s “home”. Some news media is downplaying this as a minor fire and also misleading that this was his personal home and not the Governor’s Mansion, a public building. This is straight up attempted murder
