A stupid idiotic plan to fleece/strip land, displace an entire demographic in a global hotspot, needlessly send American troops overseas (from a guy who claims the US should not be involved outside our country), grift the zone to gain personal wealth -- but also to distract from all the terrible shit going on right now here at home, on American soil, to the American people. Bravo.

I suspect there will be whole new 'plan' in a few weeks once Jordan and Egypt once again refuse to re-settle the Palestinians (not withstanding the fact they don't want to move in the first place). Who knows though. I don't know exactly what tools Trump has to bully those states (foreign aid restrictions, sanctions, tariffs, etc.) but I suspect the hammer is not big enough.

A major landmark study to be published by The Lancet reveals that global immunization efforts have saved an estimated 154 million lives – or the equivalent of 6 lives every minute of every year – over the past 50 years. The vast majority of lives saved – 101 million – were those of infants.

The study, led by the World Health Organization (WHO), shows that immunization is the single greatest contribution of any health intervention to ensuring babies not only see their first birthdays but continue leading healthy lives into adulthood.

Of the vaccines included in the study, the measles vaccination had the most significant impact on reducing infant mortality, accounting for 60% of the lives saved due to immunization. This vaccine will likely remain the top contributor to preventing deaths in the future.

Like, I just don't get what all this disdain is for us by the current administration.
You can hear the ridicule drop off the lips of yet another of his carbon-copy blonde bimbo press secretaries.
Like, offer people a deal while threatening them with firing (and getting nothing), yet then denigrating them for taking it???
(For the record, one reason I am not taking it is because I don't WANT to take 33 weeks of free pay from my fellow citizens to do nothing. But it means I might just get fired with nothing too.)

At the White House, press secretary Karoline Levitt said more than 40,000 federal workers have applied to leave in return for being paid until Sept. 30.

“We encourage federal workers in this city to accept the very generous offer,” she said at about the same time as the judge's ruling came out. "They don’t want to come into the office. If they want to rip the American people off, then they’re welcome to take this buyout and we’ll find highly qualified people” to replace them.

For the record, they sound desperate. We get reminders daily now about how this offer was going to expire at 11:59 ET tonight and if we don't take it, we could be fired. It's like there's little else this administration hates more than trans people except for its own federal government employees.

Decisions are being made with complete disregard of the facts, whether on vaccines and public health, or climate change, or abortion, or transgender folks, or even ending telework for federal employees. It is 100% driven by ideology, one that is both morally bankrupt and practically destructive.

Decisions are being made with complete disregard of the facts, whether on vaccines and public health, or climate change, or abortion, or transgender folks, or even ending telework for federal employees. Even worse, it's being marketed as being anti-discrimination, merit-based, and returning to a balanced middle when it's so off-balance it's spinning upside down and bringing a deluge of swamp.

Indeed. Another way to put it is that, if this task force lives up to its name, its first targets will be administration leadership themselves, closely followed by Republican leaders in congress. If Jesus himself showed up there, they would crucify him again.
