She's got the Koch fortune behind her, so she could end up doing pretty well.

Yes, but in the end this depends on the talking points. If she truly offers the vision of stability and inspires conservative women she could turn the race upside down. This probably wouldn't happen but some potential is there (if she plays the cards right). Also I can see the scenario where Don and Ron just kill each other on the stage and in the end she takes the nomination as a "sane candidate".

Unlike most people here I was governed for 3 times by women that were sitting in the big chair (and all of them were conservative). So I really think that this in the end comes down to talking points. If she goes with genuine family values, promises to keep drama low, pushes for reindustralization of the country, slashes racism against everybody (including white people that are the bulk of the party), works towards balanced budget, promises fixing vital infrastructure, cleaning of drugs and crime from the streets .... in that case the debate could really quickly shift. Plus the video is probably true in one point, her chances against elderly Biden or some replacement like mayor Pete are probably pretty decent. After all there are many people that are just tired and want to lower the drama level, what neither Don or Ron are actually offering. Therefore there are decent odds that US media are underestimating her since for you this is kinda uncharted territory.

I just don't see this happening for her, no matter who backs her. MAGA won't vote for her - she is a woman and 1st gen American, she might as well be a centrist corporate Democrat. She also removed the Confederate flag as governor - I give them about 30 seconds before they start calling her woke.

It is true that the odds are against her.
However the odds can change, especially since she doesn't need the whole party. She can take the nomination with some 30-40 percent of the vote in the clear winner takes all system. If centrists of the party stand behind her, if right leaning independents support her, if the message is decent, thrown in the woman card, plenty of money is already in the mix ... this just aren't that bad cards when you put it altogether. Therefore in just a few months we will see if something can come out of this.

It certainly will be something. Everyone should pay close attention, but I doubt many will. These are those moments that make audiences nervous in horror movies and historical dramas.

So the Obama administration made more effective breaks mandatory (ECP brake safety rule) after derailments in 2014. The Association of American Railroads (lobbying arm) fought this hard. In 2018, the Association of American Railroads spent $4,737,989, and Norfolk Southern spent $1,025,330, lobbying to reverse the break safety rule.

Trump administration rolled it back entirely. Even Fox News is confirming it now and it wasn't hidden at the time either.

Fast forward, Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi successfully rallied rank-and-file Democrats to side with railroad execs over their workers late last year. They were absolutely warned that this was a main issue during the rail strike by the workers.

Yeah, this whole thing has been a travesty.

The U.S. is also in a position to be able to look at Western European policies on guns and also medical care and compare how systems work in a variety of countries. We have demonstrated facts about policies and systems, so it isn't just proposed theories. What it looks like to me is that the U.S. is too proud to learn from others countries.
If you are the greatest country in the world, and are exceptionally awesome, why do anything differently? If something is great that suggests it's not in need of fixing. Granted, perfect and great aren't the same thing, but I expect that distinction is lost on many.

The thing is that this actually used to be the case, US was quite superior to anyone else during the 50s and 60s ... and to some degree all the way to the end of the century. However at one point "the same old same old" principles just become outdated if others are heavily investing into the development and they are designing new economic models. Which are basically more adjusted to the current development of technology as it is. As I said plenty of times here: 19th century economics with technology of 21th century is a recipe for disaster. If you have any analytical skills this shouldn't be that hard to figure out why. Therefore sometimes you just have to click that "update software" box regardless of how controversial that is to some people. This really is the question of very survival.

Saw this today on FB, and started reading FB comments. The moral outrage and corresponding trolling was delightful to peruse, I posted "10/10, comments totally deliver, would read again!"

(Dare I say that makes me a *cough* devil's advocate?)

EDIT: And so the Nikki Haley thing continues...

Coulter also called Haley a "bimbo" and a "preposterous creature," criticizing her for having advocated removing the Confederate flag from the grounds of the South Carolina Statehouse in the wake of the 2015 shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston.
