This country is barely developed at this point.

True, but today even developing countries are trying much harder than US to keep this under control. Not to mention that if the finances are under control more people would be willing to take the experiment of implementing socialized healthcare or free college. I mean it would be the experiment for the US, since elsewhere this already works for decades. However it evidently would be easier to implement this if you didn't have a pile of debts at the starting point. In other words without such programs you are kinda meant to become a developing country in the modern world. Stupid and sick are simply unlikely to get to the top.

I know the George Santos issue is serious, but he said he "went to Baruch on a volleyball scholarship, took the game so seriously that he had to have his knees replaced" and it's all a lie. 🤣😂 What a bizarre fantasy world he lives in.
The fact that he's serving on committees is a concern but, I lol at the NYT and others that clutch their pearls about his "hard right tilt". This bitch is a grifting clown. Full stop. He'd be the most insufferable liberal if he could make money off it and he's either going to get indited or killed by some animal rights activists.

I am currently digging through some websites of institutions in order to better understand my environment and how everything works. However I found an interesting piece that gave me idea, especially since I know that some of you really like to talk about cultural differences. Therefore I will do a little experiment. In other words I have found the formal manifesto of EPP, the European people's party. The main RIGHT wing force in the EU. Therefore since this forum is mostly filled with left wing Americans I am curious about honest opinion about these few pages of text (if someone is in the mood for a read). I mean this is formal party website, not something random.

EPP manifesto

How much "woke" is this by American standards ? Could you possibly vote for this "logic" ? I mean this mixes political talking points that in US are generally considered to be completely incompatible. But I will not say more for now.

I know you were asking for an American perspective, but as a fellow European somewhat familiar with the EPP I can tell you that I had to grin because you can still clearly see the good old conservatism in that program if you know how to read it. The language is moderate and maybe even progressive, but look out for the parts about competitiveness and red tape (i. e. deregulation) and social policies (family politics best left at the national level, the stress on christianity but also how both racism and homophobia are left out of the list of threats to European values) you can see a lot of open room for interpretation towards the right.

If you want to compare the current GOP to a EP group, take the far-right fringe: Identity and Democracy. That should be a better match.

But yes, they are obviously far to the left of the current GOP. But then again, who isn't?

Oh, and since the programm mentions first and second class citizens when it comes to food quality: as far as I know there was a big study a few years ago that proved that there is no double standard. It's mostly a conspiracy theory popular among Eastern Europeans who enjoy playing the victim of the evil West. Fight me! 😁

When I posted that I knew I will get this reply from you in the mix. Therefore since no one answered I answer to you.

That post was a continuation on some conversations I had here a while ago. My point was that US can't move forward if the GOP doesn't find a way to evolve into something that looks like EPP. The core difference is that EPP seems to realize for the most part that we are in 21th century, while GOP sometimes struggles even with 20th century stuff. I could have posted some left wing program and everyone would agree on mostly anything. However in that I saw no real conversation. I mean of course you can see the conservatism in all this, this is right wing program by European standards. The whole point was to compare this with the American left, which is still kinda right leaning by European standards.

Social media comments keep surprising me again and again. How are there educated people in 2023 in first world countries who blame the wars of this world on "Jewish bankers"?

What makes you think that such people are actually educated ?
I sometimes visit their profile to see who I am dealing with. When it lists a credible looking university education, that actually makes me even sadder and more concerned.

I don't know about other parts of the continent or world but in my environment this shouldn't be mixed. Formal education and the worldview of the person. Those are two separate things. In other words great school and dumbass are not something that is mutually exclusive. After all today modern schools tend to give you random facts about how to do your job, while they don't provide much in the terms of thinking skills. Since worldview is considered to be private sphere. Plus even those that actually know something tend to skip BS of social media, since it just isn't worth the time. Therefore in the end you get what you get there.

As I said I am exploring institutions that have clear effect on my life. So it is kinda stupid that I stop with just one link.
Anyway today there is something completely different on the menu. In other words this is the link on the main and formal page of the European center left block. So here we don't have dilemmas because this is evidently 100% "woke" by US standards. Therefore I suppose that this one will be more interesting to much more people that hang out here. I am just sharing, maybe someone will find something of interest here.
