Bernie Sanders Dubbed 'National Treasure' After $2,000 Stimulus Appeal

Bernie Sanders with the big brain 1000IQ play. Temporarily align yourself with Trump and attach to his proposal, making it tougher for right-wing media to characterize you as a "radical leftist socialist" being that the idea was put to the forth largely by their Emperor. To attack Bernie now would also force them to also indirectly attack an idea Trump put forth. Also, by calling out the obstructionist agenda by Republican senators (mainly Mitch) for not at least bringing it to a vote.

This is like the one time a prominent Democrat seems to be getting the messaging right.

Can we stop insulting him by calling him a Democrat though? He's still an independent, last I checked.

I agree, this was indeed a smart move on his part. :D Let’s see what that fucking ancient tortoise leading the Senate does now.

He has ran for president as a Democrat, though. I see you point, even if it is a little pedantic.

I know. You have to run in the 2 party system to get any traction though. A third party run would have made him persona non grata and he'd never get anything accomplished as a Senator. They'd have likely vilified him and dumped money into getting him ousted from his seat as Senator from Vermont. Don't forget how Nader's name was smeared and dragged through the mud after everyone blamed him for Gore's loss in 2000. He was once highly respected by the left and liberal democrats. Not so much after that election.

Getting the messaging right? I don't hear any of the inspiring stuff about norms and protecting treasured institutions. Nothing makes me want to fight for change harder than to listen someone lecture me about how important it is to follow a norm, or how valuable institutions that have been failing for at least 20 years are.

Also don't forgot Trump isn't even that rich lol. It's important to remember the people who are actually rich, not fake rich, are the pillars of our society, which is why they get to write legislation.

A Racial Slur, a Viral Video, and a Reckoning - The New York Times

Jimmy Galligan is a hummer driving upper middle class kid. Photographed for the NYT wearing nice clothes and sitting in front of what looks like a nice home in an affluent neighborhood. I don’t necessarily agree with his handling of the situation, nor his gleeful sense of satisfaction. I do think he could have handled this differently. Spoken directly to her and explained why he felt her usage of the word was problematic, rather than waiting and sitting on the video to deploy in a vindictive revenge scheme to destroy a Becky. It seems like a misguided way of addressing the problem of racial insensitivity at his high school, which is a valid issue. I question his sincerity, but I’m not a mind reader. I’d worry any chance of addressing said problem of racial insensitivity at his HS might be minimized by handling the situation as he did and thus further shifting the public conversation to one about cancellation and retribution versus a discussion about understanding and sensitivity. I don’t see him winning any new allies to the cause handling it this way. But he will no doubt win clicks and views on his various social media accounts. It seems disingenuous and motivated more by a desire for attention, but again, I’m no mind reader.

However, Mimi Groves will be just fine. She has to go to community college for a year or two. She’ll probably be able to transfer to a 4 year school afterwards and complete her bachelors degree. Cancel culture is kind of stupid but her life is far from over. She hasn’t been cancelled. A Becky’s life isn’t going quite as they’d planned and people are outraged. She’ll be fine. At worse, she probably learned a hard lesson. She’ll probably be fine. Tamir Rice and Elijah McClain will not be fine.

Texas County Judge Is Suspect In Vandalism Of Courthouse Segregation-Era ‘Negroes’ Sign – CBS Dallas / Fort Worth

But Little, who is the county’s top executive, not a judicial official, has now been identified as a suspect in an investigation into the sign being partially painted over, The Dallas Morning News reports. No one has been charged with any crime and the incident remains under investigation.

The sign, which is near what used to be a water fountain in the courthouse basement, was uncovered during renovations two decades ago. It was marked with a placard as a reminder of the evil of segregation, Little said in November.

Later that month, the sign was painted over. A video was posted online showing Little urging another man to take spray paint to it, according to the Morning News. It was not immediately known why Little asked the man to paint the sign.

The audio of Trump with the Georgia secretary of state. Wow. It’s like telling the Nixon tapes to “hold my beer.”

The overall lack of empathy for both inmates and prison workers (often coming from supposed Christians) during this pandemic is disgraceful.

The overall lack of empathy and generally Christ-like behavior from people claiming to be Christian is disappointing across the board. I suspect that is why that old "What Would Jesus Do" saying was so short lived. People realized what a tall order it was to try to live up to it.

Are people really more upset over "amen and awomen" than 45 and his allies' continuous attempts to subvert the election? I mean, it was a damn pun (bigger question is why do we have prayers at government functions). We've got bigger issues, like the eternal expedition into the mountains of madness that is the GOP.

I mean, it was a damn pun (and why do we have prayers at government functions; separation of church and state much?). Even if it wasn't, it's the biggest non-issue I can think of. We've got bigger issues, like the eternal expedition into the mountains of madness that is the GOP.

Speaking of...

GOP senators remove Lt. Gov. Fetterman from running first day of new session

They'll simply ignore every outcome that isn't the one they want. Illegal and unethical yes but none of that matters at all unless they are held responsible. You can say a lot about Dems but they don't do anything remotely this lawless. Stop voting for these people at any level - they're sheep and do whatever they're told.
