TBH I thought the first one ended pretty well.
The cartoon show followed me around for a while in the early 90's
But Beetlejuice is one of the Tim Burton projects that didnt really grab me. I like the aesthetic, the art, the humor is what it is.
I wonder what Hollywood is gonna do when they run out of reboots and watered down sequels. We're starting to get into Multiplicity territory with a copy of a copy...

It was okay. The raunchy "ghost with the most" approach by Keaton was actually really obnoxious in a funny way at the time. It was never one of my fave movies or anything but there were a lot of bad films from that time period. I think I prefer Edward Scissorhands the most from that Burton time period -- it had a social message, was quirky funny, it was the first time I saw Anthony Michael Hall with a neck as big as my thigh, it had classic characters (like Alan Arkin's dad), it was Vincent Price's last significant film appearance, and.... it just lingers and wracks a sob from the heart. That last scene just chokes me up whenever I recall it. Just an iconic film.

I often dream that they make a reboot of the Grumpy Old Men with Michael Keaton as John and Jack Nicholson as Max. They would have made a good Odd Couple too with MK as Feelix and JN as Oscar

Ive spoken on this before.
I love world building so much, I appreciate seeing it in mainline projects so I'll eventually get around to Furiosa and I'll enjoy it for what it is.
But the billing around it...if you want to putt butts in seats and have those butts generate positive buzz; you need more pov characters in more projects. Otherwise you're gonna be stuck in Mad Max's sandbox without Mad Max. Maybe consider some series, even some animated work to get more of the world and people in it out there, other wise people are gonna assume you're leaving out casting and that can be a tough bitter pill for audiences to choke down.
Also you gotta give us some bad guy movies/series. So if you just gotta make some prequels. Give us some stories about how Barter Town got set up before Mad Max came, Give us some Lord Humongous stories before he became the leader of wasteland maurauders looking for the refinery.
Hell go back to the very beginning and give us the stories about how the world ended to make the roads dangerous to begin with.

And please.
Consider making a dieselpunk anime comic style movie/series.
Y'all have the aesthetic.
I would unironically love a post apocalyptic wagon train series with fire rock metal chase/fight scenes.
There's so much fun world building to explore in the Mad Max/Furiosa franchise.
Witness it.

or don't, lest the Disney behemoth swallow this franchise up and try to make Furiosa a Disney princess and totally run it into the ground.

I get it The Watchers. You don't trust the audience to figure anything out they arent outright told in real time. Have more faith in yourself. You're making me tired. Don't make this difficult. Let me love you.

The Watchers.
A movie that was definitely made by people who are human.

RIP James Earl Jones.

BTW I once had a really stupid argument with someone insisting that he couldn't have been in Dr. Strangelove. This person had such an ironclad "knowledge" of history that he couldn't be wrong.

This was before you could just bring out your phone and look it up on IMDB. It remained an unresolved and very annoying experience.

People on FB bitching that The Hunt for Gollum is now two movies and who cares anyway? They just want to see Fingolfin go up against Morgoth.

Even if I would have preferred Wanda to have a fully redemptive journey, Derrickson's original plans did Wanda justice even with a bad turn at the end, while Raimi completely and unforgivably derailed her established arc.

This would have at least setup / justified the turn, vs "oh she read an evil book the movies haven't shown before, lost her agency, and now we're just gonna murder tons of multiverse characters for shock value."

so was it like right wing schlock written to pump up his legacy? I was kind of curious to see it when I saw the trailer but then I forgot about it and that's the last I really heard about it. Was hoping we'd get something in the vein of W and Vice. Quaid looked like he did a good job getting the voice and mannerisms down from what I saw in the trailer.

It sounds like the script was just glamorizing Reagan / propaganda but I haven't really seen any problems with Quaid, who has seemed a pretty dependable and likeable actor over his career.

Sorbo is just the right-wing poster child entertainment guy, after his outspokenness for Trump on X and starring in God's Not Dead etc.

Opinion: Empire of the Sun is Spielberg's best movie. It's a beautifully haunting story of the loss of innocence. That scene where he reunites with his parents says it all. He's not the same. He will never be the same. Nothing will ever be the same.

The soundtrack by John Williams, based around Suo Gan, kills it.

What ever happened to that kid? I could see him playing a young Bruce Wayne.

Schindler's List might top it, but seeing that once is enough for me.
