After this conversation, I had to watch School of Rock again. It's currently on Netflix, so I didn't have to get out my bluray.

This movie makes me laugh so hard and feel so happy, especially as a musician. I think what's so great is that even though Dewey is a hot mess by most adult standards, his passion and enthusiasm and purity of heart about music makes him such a great teacher for motivating these kids. (The other cool thing about the film is that they actually did their own music, they were that capable.) You can just see the talent drip off them, especially the back-up singers. They must have had a lot of fun filming this.

I am still sad about Kevin Clark's death a few years ago (he was riding his bicycle in Chicago and was hit by a motorist). Just very sad.

at any point in school I would have done anything to have a teacher like that.

I was fortunate enough to have an occasional teacher through K-12 and then college with that level of enthusiasm and positivity.

I think that's the other neat part about the film. Dewey did something pretty terrible (identity fraud) so he might have been arrested and he also could have gotten parents to take their kids out of the school in the process, but when they recognized what he accomplished, they decided to actually credit him with what he'd been able to do an achieve. He actually did become a teacher (!) so to speak, and all the stuff that people hated about him as a rock-and-roll guitarist in a top 40 clone band was the stuff they loved about him in regards to teaching and motivating kid musicians.

Morpheus, Trinity, Cypher, Tank, Dozer, and Neil...The Chosen One. Reminds me of the movies from the 70s and 80's where a regular person from our world goes into the enchanted world of magic. Its kinda what the Matrix is anyway, but yeah this tweet makes me think: "My name is Thomas Anderson, but everyone calls me Neil."

Havent seen these movies since middle school. I need to rewatch.
Used to have such a crush on Valeria Golino. She did this film the year after she did Four Rooms which is one of the funniest movies Ive ever seen.

You mean Markus, Trina, Sy, Tate, Dougal, and Neil.
The implications of Agent Smith's first name are hilarious too. He strikes me as a Keith or a Mike.
Agent Mike Smith so ready for retirement. Those fishing trips are calling his name.

Yeah, I would definitely see Mike or Bill. I mean, they all use common last names, so the first names would be typically too.

So it was Smith, Brown, and Jones. Then apparently some upgrades included Jackson, Johnson, and Thompson.

Yeah it's exactly the problem. It serves no purpose whatsoever. Who ever thought this would be a good idea? Multiverse in the MCU has essentially just permitted sloppy rather than tight/relevant writing.

I havent seen the Momoa version yet. Do you happen to know where it's streaming?

But yes. I watched it on Prime today. I really enjoyed seeing a movie on a location, with constructed sets and practical effects. I watched Fire and Ice next. The art took me back rekindled some old fantasy inspirations and now that I have the audiobook library app, I think I might actually start going back through the Fantasy series that used to hook me so before I found Dune.

It's been becoming increasingly clear that Warner Bros doesn't respect their viewers or their filmmakers.

...Screenings have since taken place for potential buyers, including Netflix, Amazon and Paramount, but “Warner Bros., which stood to make $35 – $40 million on the tax write-down, wanted something in the ballpark of $75 – $80 million from a buyer.” Not only that, but they would not allow counteroffers.

If things were not already bad enough, the report goes on to say that a source has revealed “the four Warner Bros. executives responsible for making this decision” and have not even seen the finished film. Warner Bros. has not responded to requests for comment, according to TheWrap....

It would probably be professional suicide for someone to clandestinely just "dump" all of this movie on the Internet, but that would be pretty amazing to see, before the film is deleted forever like Batgirl.
