He believes the government is being controlled by socialists whose goal it is to destroy religion and the American family and he uses the media to spread those sensationalized views. How is that any different than what McCarthy did? He even brings people on his show and cuts them off if they do anything but agree with him, exactly like McCarthy used to during Congressional hearings.

My point is that he's nowhere near as bad as McCarthy was.

There are some similarities, but I think Savage is a lot smarter than McCarthy. McCarthy was a dumbass and a drunkard. He had no business being in the position he was in.

I'm not defending him, because even I've heard him say some outlandish things. But on many of his views, he does come across as having intelligent reasons for them. He blows a lot of things out of proportion, so it can cause people to be very stand-offish when listening to him.

I think he's funny as hell, though.

As for Savage, its true. He is a little nutty on some things. But I would recommend listening to him a bit, first. I mean, let's face it. No one is going to agree with someone 100% of the time. He has some ideas that are out there, but he has some that, in my opinion, may have some truth to them. I don't listen to him regularly, but when I catch him on, I do.

As for the Cold War, while McCarthy was unfit for his post, I agree with mercury that there were Communist agents within the government. This is proven. So I would say that while a man such as the Senator had no business as the leader of HUAC (House of Un-American Activities Committee), the need for such a committee at that time was needed. Under McCarthy; however, it violated too many civil liberties of the people it tried. Luckily, the US caught on and the Senate went after McCarthy himself in the mid-1950s. Edward R. Murrow said it best in regards to McCarthy's methods. He said that there was a fine line between investigation and persecution, and that McCarthy had stepped over that line too many times.

There are actually people who still believe that Alger Hiss and the Rosenbergs were innocent. It's absolutely insane to me. That being said, it's totally within your rights to be a communist in our country. I think that communism is both retarded and evil, but we cannot legislate thought crimes, or we're no better.

Gay people do not bother me in the least. If they did, I wouldn't be heading into show biz in Hollywood (this is the same guy who was discussing his Madonna fandom earlier today). One could accurately describe/deride me as a "cosmotarian." My libertarianism has a very uneasy relationship with the Right in modern-day America. And I'm a decadent, agnostic, druggy elitist, so they don't have much care for my ilk to begin with.

It doesn't sound any different from any other of the ranting, raving, "kill the anything resembling a gay liberal unamerican godless !$@#$ (head explodes)" types of people who have existed throughout U.S. history (Other places in the world have probably had their own equivalents to this as well.)

That's stupid. Maybe he's just opinionated. Why does it have to be some sort of inferiority/closet homo complex? Because the man is smart, has an opinion that differs from from those that propose those claims and he's very blunt and intelligent in verbalizing it, that's why. He stands against everything the PC left stands for. Keep in mind though, just because he has strong conservative ideals, that doesn't make him a Republican Bush lover like some might assume. He hates Bush and he considers himself an independent.

I didn't even watch that video. Are these claims that are made in the video? I bet it's a crock of BS.

All I know is that almost all the comments for that video are calling the dude running it a dumbass.

What basis do I need other than the fact that these people are usually caught having an affair with a man, feeling guys up in bathrooms, or soliciting young male pages. Just look at Exodus International where most of the original founders apologized for creating it and the others were found in gay bars trying to pick up men. The hypocrisy is delicious and it speaks loads about what happens when people are shamed and guilted into suppressing their sexual identities.
