So I didn't need to set up a volume or anything like that. There was a folder I could navigate to to pull things in and out of my system. The other question: Does apt-get work?

Update: it does.

I use Linux because it empowers me to learn more about my computer, enhances my productivity with its robust tools, and aligns with my values of open-source software. Plus, the community is amazing!:)

Linux is pretty great. The reason I think I stopped using it was because I lost patience trying to troubleshoot why it wouldn't connect to WiFi. But you can have the same fun experience on Windows, I've found.

I have old machines (the newest is from 2019).

My laptops are Mac, Chromebook(which I no longer use), and Windows. My desktops are a Dual-boot Linux Mint/Windows machine and a reformatted Linux Mint machine (I switched from Ubuntu).

I generally like something where the terminal is relatively functional and works well with Unix-like commands. So, Mac, Chromebook, and Linux all feel like an ecosystem to me. I used to run Cygwin on my Windows, but it got too bloated.

Yeah, I love those Unix commands and they've made me warm to using a Mac for work.

Why did you switch to Mint from Ubuntu?

I have to use a Windows computer in my new job, and had forgotten how awful it was. I was able to use linux at the university the past couple years, and have used it exclusively at home for almost 20 years now.
