Why do vegans flip out over animal cruelty? Why are feminists so sensitive? Why would someone "stoop" to pointing out that the US right wing is so science blind they elect leaders who don't "believe" in climate change or evolution?
Because they understand that your choices have real world harm, on living breathing individuals.
It's actually DANGEROUS at this stage in the game, to even think about having a US leader who denies climate science. Disastrous.
It's not so much that you're doing something cool subversive or badass, but that honestly stupid people in large groups are DANGEROUS.
People who actually think poverty is only due to attitude or effort will never address why there are dirty mentally ill persons sleeping on the Los Angeles sidewalk. Yeah, I mean, how much motivation and positive thinking do you need to not want to sleep on a public slab of filthy concrete?
I'll leave it to other people, or myself at a more rested hour, to explain it to you with less emotional words, but it's positively grotesque.
That being said, I do think that the establishment left has gone too far with ideas about hate speech and I know sometimes people have certain views because of cultural or historical associations. I do also get annoyed that Hillary Clinton would use her gender so manipulatively in the presidential race - yet nothing about that excuses Trump from bragging about sexual infidelities, his supposed groupies, and trying to get Megyn Kelly fired for asking him a question.
If you can see why this does not necessitate that, then we probably could have a conversation.
I will strive to just stay out of the political forums for a while. It's just so frustrating. All I can think about are the consequences of thoughtless votes.
