This book, published in 1996 was the first of a wave of materials on cognitive functions. Thompson took the system that Jung described in Psychological Types and made it accessible to the masses. At about 130 pages, the aim is simply to explain the Jungian cognitive functions in a way that the average layman can understand. The illustrations that describe the concepts are one of the better things in the book. It also describes what happens during a “grip†experience, which is the subject of Naomi Quenk’s book, “Was That Really Meâ€. With regards to easy to understand explanations of the functions, I think this is one of the best books out there. It is simple, straightforward and concise. The only bad thing is I had to buy a used copy because it was out of print when I purchased it.
5 stars.
