I have a friend who I've gotten along pretty darn good with through the years. I always thought he was ENFP, but after spending a lot of time with him lately, I'm realizing that he is ISTP. Do you think this fits?
-(I/E): He's very good with people, makes quick connections, but upon talking to him he explained that he much prefers to work alone or in the company of his wife. Although he is good with people, I'm finding that people really bug him most of the time. He is cordial and people really like him, but has little patience with people.
-(S/N): I thought he was N because he talks a lot about ideas. He always has some new idea of what he wants to do career-wise or how to increase his income, etc. But, he's incredibly good with details and extremely good mechanically and with his hands.
He absolutely abhors routine. What's interesting is when I work with him, I find that he likes talking to me (only because we are friends and get along fairly well), but after a while, I find that he kind of "makes room for himself". I thought it was just him being "busy", but I'm seeing that he wants his space after a while.
At first, I was offended, but now I'm cool with it because I'm the same way. Have all the space you want! I'll be needing some of my own too. He also as an artistic streak.
Does this sound like a possible ISTP? What are some things I should keep in mind to get along with an ISTP, especially being that I'm an INTP? What are absolute do's and don'ts for getting along with this type? We are business partners of sorts, so it's important that we get along. Figured you all might be able to help.
