I love L from Death Note for his mind. (And I also think there is a possible world in which he is totally hot, so consequently he was my imaginary boyfriend for a bit.)
And I love my metaphysics professor for his mind (and because he's entertaining and British). In a strictly platonic way. Maybe it's the strong Fe, but I get really fond of people for various reasons. I don't think INTP's do. I liked to imagine he enjoyed the conversations after class in which several other students and I would accost him with thoughts and questions and walk with him to his bus stop. I like to imagine he thinks my essays are fabulously ingenious, because he always says they're interesting. But I never truly understand his grading system. He's very personable in class, but never truly personal. I think probably our essays and questions and theories are just material for his Ti to chew on and then spit out. He doesn't love us for our minds; we just provide food for thought.
But that's ok. I can't blame him for his type. Nor can I project the characteristics of my type onto other people. I still have this urge to write something which he thinks is truly amazing; because if he thinks so, since he has such advanced powers of analysis, that means it would be nearly invincible. That would help fulfill my need to win acceptance for the mystical (and my connection to it) in academia. At least that's my psychological functioning. I wonder if other INFJ's use INTP's for these reasons.
