Now after sleeping it over I realized that I forgot to throw the key card on the table (which isn't obvious to anyone here). In other words our election law works very differently. In US in order to get a seat in the parliament you basically need to get over 50% of the vote where you got nominated. However here this simply isn't the case and you get the right to enter at only 5%. What is so low that none professional politicians can make it without too many problems if their talk isn't a bag of nonsense. This is exactly how we managed to get to such large number of parties in the parliament. You are competing with dozens of other political parties in some region but that small part of the cake is enough that you get one seat for the region (out of 14 seats for each region). Therefore if you do this in a few regions you got yourself a small political block in the parliament. So when a few small political parties do that it makes some difference in the end, especially in narrative (or if you enter ruling majority, which doesn't really exist without your hands). In other words our system is much better at materializing scattered and minor political opinions. While in US (and UK if I am not mistaken) you will get no where near a seat with that amount of votes. What is probably the main reason why I don't see the politics fundamentally as some people here do. However no one will persuade me that my country or culture do not exists. Even if they perhaps look surreal to some people here.

Well, to be honest I don't care that much about what you think about politicians to pursue this to the end of the earth. I have given if you plenty of examples, anecdote, personal experiences, explanation and if you can't see that as data or meaning I really can't help you understand. I have even told you what to research at the start but you act as you didn't do that. For me you are trapped in your Machiavellian worldview(and culture) and that is just it. The cultural divide is just too big it seems. I don't want to be your enemy but I evidently can't make you understand.

He grew up through this and always advocated for that, he worked his way up and accomplished this piece of policy, and then retired from his position instead of accepting bribes." Something along those lines. But no big deal, my world view serves me well and is fine as is.

Therefore if you need faces we can go there. I will put this in random so that I don't play any favorites. There is plenty of such people but I will name just more "visible" ones. Even if these people are scattered all over the political spectrum.

Miro Bulj - rural right wing populist

Elected in what is basically our version of Arizona, Utah or Idaho. He came in a wave when a bunch of independents united and created a block that had about one sixth of the parliament. Making it the third largest group at the time. He is ex veteran that fairly well represents his part of the country. He was one of the key people who prevented at the time construction of a fossil fuels power plant next to Peruca lake, which is basically the biggest tank of fresh water in the country. He in general is qute serious about environment, food, infrastructure issues. However even if his political option fragmented and dispersed he got another term since his people tend to like him. He is typical example of mama bear type of person.

Tomislav Tomasevic - leader of local greens (far left)

He got pretty popular by directly fighting the so called mafia in governing bodies in the Capital city (which has about 30% of the countries GDP. He and people behind them made so many actions, protests, investigations, the became politicians themselves that they have completely ruined the party that rules the capital and is possibly pro-russian. In the last elections for the parliament they got 0 seats and when local election come they are probably facing a disaster. What means that Major will probably need to go to prison because there are already multiple investigations going. Tomasevic is probably our new Mayor. Very complicated and long story but you can't say the guy is trash, otherwise he would be with the current Mayor in the mix.

Dalija Oreskovic - center (as we define it)

She became famous for being the leader of the office for "conflicts of interests in high politics". Some say she should have done more but before her we did really have someone who did even things on the level she did. With her the whole idea of controlling politicians became both more popular and practical. While she fined a number of political figures, while even at the very top had some legal problems in here department. Coincidence or not plenty of politicians has to leave politics for financial and legal reasons during here term. Now she has her own anti-corruption party and is elected to the parliament.

Ruza Tomasic - far right

For this one I would surely get plenty of flack from many people. Since many can't stand her for her very Christian and patriotic/nationalistic political position. However she came home from Canada if I am not mistaken to help her homeland when things got rough during the war and after it. While she could have had more comfortable life over the Atlantic. She has her own party, she got elected into EU parliament twice. She suggested a number of laws. Back in a day she fought some local drug dealers since she is a professional cop (which came after her family later). If you are a leftist you can call her misguided but "selfish" really doesn't stand.

Ivan Vilibor Sincic - populist justice fighter

The leader of already mentioned anti-evictions enthusiasts and one of the youngest people to ever enter our parliament. He got arrested a number of times for blocking police in order to trying to prevent evictions. He and his followers brought to public eye quite a number of questionable practices regarding money and real-estate. Plus they made sure that you can't evict people if this is their last real-estate. Therefore the debt should be paid gradually over time and people get to keep their property. I think this was letter expanded to family farms as well. The party latter got replaced by more formulated "enthusiasts" and Sincic is current in EU parliament.

Goran Aleksic - center left

Ally of Sincic and a man who played a role in fighting big banks. What ended with some top level verdicts for the client of big banks. I mean this is whole saga that was going on for years and there are many sub -cases. Therefore I will not go into all of that. He was part of out parliament at one point, what gave him "the stage to speak". Therefore he and his team gathered groups that are big as a few percent of the whole population and channel them against the big banks. Which now have to return overpaid interest and what not.

Therefore for me politics isn't just about personal gains and "interests". However saying that these people are completely selfless is false but you really can't say that all they think about is themselves and profit. The work and results don't really match with that claim .
