I use science to validate the mystic book and the mystic book to validate science.
This is what I do. It's really interesting to see how an STP perceives spirituality and how similar it is to my view.
The original question was how do we exist. I came up with something to explain God's location to someone who asked. The answer applies to your question in that it explains why we don't understand such things. I was so proud of myself for the mirror analogy that I told my INTP friend. He laughed and wouldn't explain what was funny about it, so perhaps it is not a good explanation, but I enjoy the thought of it. So here goes (sorry it's long) -
Where is God? Most people believe that God is all around us. God is in front of you and behind you. “Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me†(Psalm 139:5). You can't escape God - “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me†(Psalm 139:7-10). God is also inside you - “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?†(1 Corinthians 3:16). This means that God is everywhere.
How is God everywhere? Some believe he exists in the 4th dimension, which is time. In our world, we see only three dimensions – length, depth, and height. We can affect these three dimensions, creating things that are tall, wide, and deep. The 4th dimension, time, we can not affect. No matter what we do, time passes, and we are locked inside of it. It's sort of like if you were your reflection. You would exist in only two dimensions, and maybe you would perceive the third dimension, but could not affect it or interact with it. If you were your reflection, what would be on the other side of the mirror could affect the third dimension, but you could not. All you could do is see it being affected. That's how time is with God. God can affect time - “And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened†(Matthew 24:22). The biblical proof of a 4th dimension is Ephesians 3:16-19, which describes 4 dimensions – breadth, length, depth, and height - “That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God†(Ephesians 3:16-19). Emphasis in Ephesians 3:16-19 is on COMPREHENDING. That's why I don't think "breadth" is the 4th dimension, and not just describing the extent of God's love. Since we can not escape time nor God, I postulate that time is the 4th dimension, and that's where God is located, one place at least. Could be wrong.
I've read that God isn't so far away that we can't perceive him, but rather so close that we overlook him, like a fish looking for water, he's all around us...And as God has the power to affect time around us, we have the power to affect time inside of us. Ever heard the phrase 'time flies when you're having fun?' That is because we are affecting our own time, a power which to some extent we share with God (just a theory that I read somewhere else).
Anyways, in the bible, it says one day we will fully understand. I think it involves coming out from inside the 4th dimension and being able to act on it.
