In the 8-function theory (and maybe other theories), there is a "shadow" of your personality, with the reverse order of your functions, that comes out under severe stress. I think I've felt it before, usually partially but sometimes more fully. So let's look into it in detail.
Te (E_TJ) = First defense
It's easy to catch myself using this one. I mean, I use it all the time, but usually not unrestrained; usually with Si. When my friends try to "bring me out of my shell", my Te naturally shows, and takes the driver's seat.
Fi (I_FP) = Backed into a corner
This one is still pretty clear, but not as much. Usually shows up during stressful times, and I spend time reflecting on things.
Ne (EN_P) = Full shadow
This one sneaks up on me, and when I've been using it a little, I feel like I've gone too far out of my shell. Probably like people feel after they've drunk too much alcohol. Lowering of inhibitions, just to have a little fun for the moment...that's what this one feels like to me.
It's fun to explore the weaker functions every once in a while.
Cool.
