The later influence of feudal structures on colonial societies is also rather interesting- though depressing. It's especially most evident when studying the British Colonialism of India, which had a similarly layered social structure of its own. It played into the old feudal structures that were changing and departing more completely with the Industrial Revolutionback at home and let those who were likely of a lower feudal class in history, and later fell into a lower class who had to hear about the upper classes of old, a chance to live as they always dreamed of living. Feudalistic multi-layered governing structures lasted long past the age of chivalry, only later under other names ... that's just my observation on things though.
Interesting thoughts though... everyone!
