Rob Baldur - Rich Fantasy Lives
That waitress at Pete's who took so long to seat you,
And left you to stand in the doorway,
With her stringy red hair and her thousand-yard stare,
In her mind, she's the Princess of Norway.
As she takes down your order, she's crossing the fjord, her
White stallion spits foam like a madman.
Many Vikings have died trying to take her as bride,
But her heart is reserved for a bad man.
Rich fantasy lives.
Somehow she survives in a world she contrives.
Inhibited husbands and frustrated wives
Lead rich fantasy lives.
That guy from IT ressurects your PC
With a boredom he barely suppresses.
Though he rarely converses, he has more universes
In his head than you've got addresses.
He wargames through weekends, leads armies and legions.
He doesn't care how well you putted.
He's browsing reality's infinite palette, he's
Seen yours, and yours doesn't cut it.
Rich fantasy lives.
He quietly thrives in a world he contrives.
Techno-drone insects in cubicle hives
Lead rich fantasy lives.
We're piling up fears, but we're out of frontiers.
Some need to escape, but there's nowhere.
Can't go to the Moon, at least any time soon,
But an inner-space trip costs you no fare.
So don't be unkind to a wandering mind,
Just say it again if we missed it.
Some whispering poem was calling us home
To a place we know never existed.
Rich fantasy lives.
Our peace-bonded knives and our hyperspace drives.
Until that steam engine to Hogwarts arrives,
We have rich fantasy lives.
Rich fantasy lives.
Our quests and our tribes and our Babylon Fives.
Until something better than this world arrives,
We'll lead rich fantasy lives.
Rich fantasy lives.
Tarja - Falling Awake
Phantom voices with no words to follow
At the mercy of the cold and hollow
I withdrew into my sanctuary of silence
My defence
In this moment I am just becoming
Liberated from my cell of nothing
No sensation there was only breathing
Overcome oblivion
Falling Awake
From a walking sleep
And all that remains
Is the dying memory
And now I can dive for
these dreams I make
Like I am Falling
I am falling awake
Waves of melodies once forgotten
like a symphony across the ocean
Never knew that they could hear my calling
deep within
crashing in
rushing in
like falling
Falling Awake
From a walking sleep
And all that remains
Is the dying memory
And now I can dive for
these dreams I make
Like I am Falling
I am falling awake
There is no returning to that emptiness,
loneliness
The dream that lives inside of me
won't fade away, it's wide awake
Falling Awake
From a walking sleep
And all that remains
Is the dying memory
And now I can dive for
these dreams I make
Like I am Falling
I am falling awake
Abney Park - I've been wrong before
I don't believe in UFOs and little men from Mars
I don't believe in magic lamps bought at junk bazaars
I don't believe the world will ever be without a war
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!
I don't believe the souls of man can haunt you after life.
I don't believe the world hangs on the edge of a knife.
I don't believe we should stop thinking for an oath we swore.
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!
People tell me their crazy yarns
Like ghosts, and Gods, and ESP, and UFOs in barns.
But if half this crap has turned out true--
If you close your mind at this point, the only fool is you!
I don't believe a God above invented all that's good.
I don't believe that there's a need to rush from childhood
I don't believe the world began with a lion's roar
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!
People tell me their crazy yarns
Like ghosts sometimes, and ESP, and UFOs in barns
Half this crap has turned out true--
If you close your mind at this point, the only fool is you!
I don't believe it's always kind to say the nicest thing.
I don't believe a "sugar lie" is aw-inspiring.
I don't believe in posing kind and sneaking out the door
I don't believe a lot of things--
But I've been wrong before!
Abney Park - Beautiful Decline
Fingers of rust gently intertwine
Lace the seams of sacrifice in beautiful decline
Catalysis of creations of all that was mankind
Pull our corruption towards nature,
the state that's predefined
Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature is again exposed.
All that floats upon the sea, all that hangs in the air
All that sits in dust or dirt eventually ensnared.
The gentle touch of time will take you unaware
Pulling all creations down, an elegant affair.
Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature is again exposed
Pleasant patina pulls apart a holy copper shrine
Like gently creeping mossy claws, scarring all divine.
All the things you think you value, including the gift of life
Will slowly, gently fall apart, 'til the world is right.
Rust forms, bringing it all down
Wood rots, and into the ground
Flesh falls; life's decomposed
Then nature is again exposed
