- Loved:
* Yara and Dany's exchange/flirtation/bonding over mutual past experiences and future goals. Theme song:
Who run the world?
The repeated mention by Tyrion, then the implied reference by Yara, to Dany, about Mad King Aerys (Dany's father).....the wildfire cache. Well then, episode 10. Oh Cersei....shudders at the mad queen.
* Terms of surrender. Not ours. Yours. *dragons break through dungeon and burn
shit ships down* *khal army comes charging* Loved how they made the 3 masters give up their weakest link, then killed the other two, so they can now leverage the scared SOB to ask the Sons of Harpy to surrender. Go Greyworm (and likely Tyrion).
* Ser Davoos coming across Stannis Baratheon's daughter's toy stag at the place of her immolation. The shot of him holding the toy in the snow, as the dawn rises behind him. What a hauntingly, touching beautiful scene. He remembers.
Ties in with Melissandre in this episode, looking lost in her path, unsure of what the Fire God has in store for her/them, lacking in confidence, forlorn, and defeated, likely will play into this scene of Ser Davoos and discovering the toy stag. Hmm...
* Jon getting trampled and suffocating and panicking. I loved the direction in that scene, from his pov. I was feeling claustrophobic and living the experience with him. Powerful scene.
* Tormund going all Mike Tyson on dude. Lolz.
* Jon failing to reach Rickon. Heart breaks. We knew Rickon would die. Shaggydog is dead, so.....The fact that Jon mentioned at the end, that Rickon will be buried in the crypt below Winterfell....dun dun dun. (not really).
Everyone knows the secret that lies there. As everyone and their mother (hehe) already probably know the R+L=J theory, am sure Jon, the "bastard", as Ramsey kept reminding him this episode, will be addressed in the next episode.
* Loved the Winterfell banner once again flying in its rightful place. WE THE NORTH.
* The Giant! No! Just before Jon is about to reach out to him....boom, right in the eye. What is it with GoT and going for people's eyes? This episode should be titled "Jon's heartbreak".
* So loved how they weaved in the contrast between Ramsey and Jon. Ramsey was consistent right until the end. One character who really had no real layers. He was just a psychopath. I sometimes wonder if that's why they didn't layer the character in any other hues? There are just those few exceptions in the world who has no 'other side'. They're just psychopaths. The end. In that regard, it allowed Ramsey's narrative to really just highlight Jon's. Everything Ramsey is not and will never be. Not a leader. Stayed behind every single of his men, right until the end. He thought loyalty is earned through fear and cruelty. His hounds taught him the error of that assumption....a little too late.
* EVERYTHING ABOUT THE BATTLE SCENE. The tactics. The pov of being in a battle. How Jon was lured into the set-up. Epic! (Honourable mention to the 1 second shot of Cute Little Miss Fierce, Lady Mormont, during the beginning negotiations)
* Sansa, oh Sansa! You are becoming as cold and cunning as the North needs you to be. Fierce. Ah, Littlefinger, you creep. If you want to win Sansa over with size of your
cock army, I guess that's one way to go about it.
* Where was Brienne and Pod? Did they not reach in time from the Riverlands? I would surely have thought they would be there in the battle....
Speaking of, highly curious about Jamie, and what his plans with the Freys are....or, whether we'll see him next returning to King's Landing just in time for his sister's
trial show....
One more to go.....whitewalkers likely making an appearance in the last episode.
Not one single aspect of this episode can I complain about. I was at the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. Speaking of the end.....THEME SONG:
