Those aren't the people I'm talking about -- I am talking about regular middle class and/or blue collar folks who don't make a ton, who have described to me how they save money for the entire year and sacrifice other things so that they can experience the magic of Disney in crowded theme parks with overpriced housing and food and wait in long lines for rides.

The rich can do wtf they want without sacrificing. These people prioritize Disney so highly that they give up other things to go there. I don't get it.

I had a friend growing up whose family did this every year. I'm not sure if they qualify. His parents obviously made more money than mine; the house was much bigger and they had an in-ground pool.

I think this is nuts as an adult, going there for vacation like that every single year. I am really glad my family went on trips various places on the Eastern Seaboard, the Upper Midwest, and even Canada. What's great about that was that I get to see real things, and do real things, not simulacrums of various environments. The best part is that the things are all different. (Those trips dropped off for probably a variety of reasons by the time I got to high school.)

This is similar to what I'd like to do if I ever have the chance to take vacations again. I'd much rather go to Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Arizona, or even revisit Acadia National Park than go to Disneyworld again.

Ok Ive figured it out. Remember how back when you were a kid and you wrote fan fic to practice writing see if maybe you had an interest in doing it more, so you wrote stories about your favorite ips, be it Jurassic Park, Congo, Alien movies, Tremors, Gremlins, what have you. The point is it was your story about how characters you and your friends ages would potentially survive, perish, or thrive if you were in the thing...

They were the kind of stories if you showed adults, they encouraged you to keep writing but write more believable things...

Now, they just make the fanfic into major motion pictures.
Got anything like what could be considered an idea?
Know the right people and you just might get your movie.

On one hand, yay I guess. Its nice to have more things. On the other hand, please stop thinking you need to undo everything the adults did in the previous installments just so you can see what the next generation might respond to the face penising.

There has to be a happy median somewhere in between or we're just all stuck forever in Lady Hawk Limbo.

"Omni*Man vs Rush Hour" -- oh dear god lol

The fake character names at the end were pretty good.

I get so tired of hearing the chatter apes of FB rave about this film. I mean it's not the worst Alien film, but it was pretty disappointed in what it could have been but wasn't.

I agree, the movie wasn't awful but it wasn't very good either. And I am biased by being a fan of the franchise (and genre).

Those trailers are pretty much bang on. I myself had the exact same thought as the pitch meeting guy, when I saw the kids had free access to the transport ship and the company had completely no interest in their old derelict space station. It's like the writers themselves must have thought: well, it's stupid, but audiences are stupid and we are certainly not going to invest any effort coming up with something more plausible.

It always seems to me that the studio's have a huge multi million dollar budget for production and special effects, but it seems as if they come up with the story by locking a few writers in a room for an afternoon and demanding they produce a finished script by end of day. I mean, put some effort into story development. It could potentially pay huge dividends if you get it right.

Those Pitch Meetings have allowed me to carve out some semblance of entertainment from movies that would otherwise frustrate me.

And then there was 1998's attempt to make Mrs Doubtifre lightning strike twice.
What a wild time to be alive.

I remember they showed previews for this incessantly on TV. I also felt like the preview contained the one joke in the entire movie. Something to do with circumcision.

I had no idea it was a ripoff of Mrs. Doubtfire.

It's one of those when you look at the movie after having seen it. You ask yourself...why? How? WHY? Because nobody expected Mrs Doubtfire to take off like it did. Lightning can strike twice in Hollywood. Happens all the time. People liked this when it came out. It just didnt age well.

I tried to watch Skyfall this afternoon. I didn't get to do an uninterrupted sitting, but my assessment of the movie remains positive. I was not really able to observe Bond's character arc in this film fully, though.

I love the setpieces. The ones in Shanghai and Macau have such a stylistic flair to them. Much of this movie seems to be a throwback to old school Bond while having incredible cinematography and performances.(I'm not complaining. )

I wondered at first in Shanghai why Bond didn't shoot the assassin in the head before he dispatched his target, but then I remembered that he was looking for information. Shanghai looks like it's taking place in a cyberpunk story, which I suppose is the point, since so much of this story is about cyber-espionage and hacking.

There is so much more flirting and banter (and more, it's implied) between Moneypenny and Bond than I remembered. I love that he doesn't take it personally that she almost killed him. I suppose that happens all the time in his line of work.

I definitely remember Silva's advances and Bond's reaction, though. If they made this movie, you'd be hearing people complain about making Bond woke. To me, it just made Bond more of a badass, like Oberyn Martell, but one who doesn't end up dead. That's badass, I think.

I remember his banter with Severine, also. Hero-villain flirtation is almost always interesting to me, and then, of course, it takes a twist.

I did roll my eyes when Q said to a disappointed Bond that they didn't go in for "exploding pens" anymore. I'm tired of the whole "we're shooting for 'realism' because we're trying to be serious and deep" trope at this point, but it wasn't so worn out in 2012, I don't think. I'll note that the Kingsmen Secret Service, also mocked the concept of spy gadgets, which was weird because I thought the chief draw of the movie according to critics, that it was "more silly and fun" than the current Bond movies. I really hated the Kingsman Secret Service and have not seen any of the sequels.

Another criticism of this movie is that it's derivative of The Dark Knight and the Joker's plan to be captured on purpose. In this movie, I'll let it slide because the confrontation between Silva and M is so great. M's words are hard as nails but her face is full of regret for what happened. Silva is also fueled by feeling of being wounded, vengeance, at joy at coming close to his revenge.

I had a hard time following Act III this time, but I do appreciate the Home Alone approach Bond and M take. I remember they did some cool stuff mirrors from when I saw this in theaters, though.

I love the theme song, too, and I am not normally a fan of Adele. Both the music and the lyrics are phenomenal:

Skyfall is where we start
A thousand miles and poles apart
Where worlds collide and days are dark
You may have my number, you can take my name
But you'll never have my heart
