Why is the "political thought" thread so full of topical electioneering, sloganeeering, politicking posts and not by, well, political thought?

You are right that this is wrong. Since that isn't really politics but cheap partisanship. However with the current developments in the world and advancement of the internet this is what politics has become for the most part. Since our reality is pretty tribal at the moment.

Politics exist, it's up to the individual to bring the thoughts about what already exists. Where are the thoughts? Here. There. Nowhere. Everywhere? You can lead a human to thoughts, but you can't make them think. Mind the gap.

That may be true of politics, but for the most part that is not true about political thought (I'm talking about contemporary political thought here). It is most definitely not true about political thought in general (across time and space and schools of thought and cultures and languages). So what's the excuse, exactly?

I am not fully sure what to say on that. I guess most people are simply absorbing what media and the internet provides them. It isn't much of a excuse but that is how things seem to work.

If only one "truth" is acceptable, what can everything else be but a lie, or madness, or merely an excuse?

Well, facts are facts. While interpretations can be many.
However today people lost what is the difference between a fact and opinion. What is basically the root of the problem. What can't be fix without better media literacy.

Anyone ?
I mean what should legally happen, not what will actually happen.
there's a hole in Levinworth with his name on it. He commited high treason, orchestrated a coup, tried to take down the whole stack of plates. UCMJ during war time if he's a soldier, he can be put up against a bulkhead and shot, realistically think what they did with Chelesea Manning, But whether they'll risk tarnishing "the office of the president" doubtful.

Ideally he would be charged with sedition, it's very clear what that is and what it isn't. Every member of congress that aided him wound be removed under the 14th Amendment and never able to hold office again. But again, none of this is going to happen.
