Hopeful that once they can't be beholden to him (and with all the prior leaks), there's gonna be a lot more loose tongues about things that were going on. People will want to save themselves, and quid pro quo arrangements don't work when you have nothing to offer.

Here's hoping for video footage of his private meltdowns during the last couple of days. :popc1:

Could the next Attorney General review the unredacted Mueller report and still indict him? Mueller basically said that there was evidence crimes were committed, he just was just going to leave it in the hands of Congress.

Honestly I expect more of a Nixon - Ford kind of routine in the wake of this election. Not quite comparable in a lot of ways to be sure, but spirits seem to be much more heated these days. What I'm saying is that getting back at Trump, as understandable as the desire might be, probably will not be a high priority.

Biden pledged not to pardon Trump. If he went back on that, it would be political suicide for the left. All it would do would be to serve as further tarnish the standing of our institutions. Plus, this election is much more personal between the two candidates as opposed to the VP turned president bailing out his old boss.

I would imagine so. Also, he may very well end up in court for a host of other (primarily financial) crimes he most likely committed before and during the presidency.

Yeah, I to clarify: I didn't mean specifically that, but my phrasing suggested it. If he did, it would be just the abuse of presidential powers that needs to be gotten rid of. I was more thinking along the lines of not using the power of the office trying to dig up stuff like Trump tried with Obama and Biden for political gain.
If Trump should be accused and found guilty for any of his wrongdoings, a pardon would be the most damaging thing Biden could do. What I'm saying is that he has to restore trust in the political institutions again and not making that appear as part of a political agenda (this sounds fucked up, but Trump's method in sowing doubt in the institutions has brought us this far).

The video footage I absolutely can not wait to see is of him leaving the White House.

I know the Bidens have too much decorum to put his presidential portrait in the boiler room/most unused closet, so there's a long list of beautiful dreams that'll never happen. But footage of him leaving the White House is going to be delicious, and worth the 3 month wait.

Didn't Mueller say, on the stand, that there was enough to indict him if he weren't sitting POTUS? (Was I dreaming?)

I've been seeing tweets (all week) 'reminding' White House staff that it's illegal to destroy evidence before leaving.

I've actually been wondering for a while now if - once out of office, and the "anonymous sources in the White House" finally put a name to the mud they've occasionally thrown - if that'd put a dent in Trump's base. By lending it more credibility. But Miles Taylor revealing himself didn't seem to do much in that direction.

He did, I believe. Between his debts and election collusion, he should he plenty tied up after his term ends. Also, if Jaren Kushner and other members of his cabinet aren't charged on crimes against humanity for admittedly allowing the virus to rage through democratic leaning states because they thought it was politically advantageous to them to do so, that'll be an absolute disgrace. Keeping that in mind with everything else while a certain someone tried to make the argument that trump was the good guy, made my head want to explode.

How do you think the right and Trump supporters would react to a pardon by Biden?

AKA a Lincolnian approach?

They probably wouldn't care. But Biden might think they would and like him if he did. It'd disillusion Democrats though and probably make it easier for Republicans to steamroll the Democrats in the midterms.

I think it would just serve to validate all of their wacky theories and ideologies. The best way to pull them out of the sunken place is with irrefutable evidence compiled by a bipartisan committee -- you'll have ones that reject it in the face of overwhelming evidence, but at least they'll he cut off from the messaging from their fearless leader if he's in prison. Not taking action against his administration will almost certainly produce a much more dangerous and potent reincarnation of this corruption later on down the line.

Do they have more than witness testimony (hearsay) though? It's relatively easy to prove incompetence, but it's remarkably difficult to prove intent in court. Comey explained this in detail in his book (on how there were never criminal charges against Hilary for the emails because it would require proving intent, and it's nearly impossible to prove). And though "collusion" with Russia has been thoroughly documented (and was never officially the charge, nor is it a legitimate charge in the first place - which is why he wasn't charged with it), intent to conspire with foreign power to interfere with U.S. election is similarly difficult to prove - they'd need recorded conversations of it happening. Similarly, intent to let Democratic areas take a pandemic hit for political advantage - while incompetence in that regard is easy to prove (to a reasonable audience), intent about political advantage would be really difficult. Jared deserves to rot in the innermost circle of Hell and for the country to hate him as much as we do, but I'd be very surprised if intelligence can find concrete evidence of it.

There's a bit more hope in me that hard evidence of conspiring with a foreign power exists, and that at least a couple of them will get caught.

I don't know what kind of safeguards they have in place that make it difficult to destroy evidence, but the one thing we have going for us is: Trump is a moron, he routinely lies with less skill than the average 13 year old kid, and it'd be surprising if he secretly had the sufficient mastermind skills to cover his trail entirely.

Also! Destroying evidence (or an attempt thereof) can help prove intent/foreknowledge of a wrong.

I imagine once the indictment ball starts rolling that everyone will start throwing eachother under the bus to save their own hides. We're about to start hearing a lot more on the inner workings of his administration.
