Trump vs. Biden

The Trump campaign released a statement Friday morning, saying that the 2020 election is not over yet.

In the statement, Matt Morgan, Trump 2020 campaign general counsel, says:

This election is not over. The false projection of Joe Biden as the winner is based on results in four states that are far from final. Georgia is headed for a recount, where we are confident we will find ballots improperly harvested, and where President Trump will ultimately prevail. There were many irregularities in Pennsylvania, including having election officials prevent our volunteer legal observers from having meaningful access to vote counting locations. We prevailed in court on our challenge, but were deprived of valuable time and denied the transparency we are entitled to under state law. In Nevada, there appear to be thousands of individuals who improperly cast mail ballots. Finally, the President is on course to win Arizona outright, despite the irresponsible and erroneous ‘calling’ of the state for Biden by Fox News and the Associated Press. Biden is relying on these states for his phony claim on the White House, but once the election is final, President Trump will be re-elected.

Smell the coffee, pal.

I suspect the extreme right will become the biggest menace once Trump is out of office and regularly rage-tweeting away his butthurt in the form of constant conspiracies and positing nefarious intentions into every single tiny thing about Biden's administration, at every imaginable turn. He's going to be seeing them as guilty in all the ways he's actually been guilty himself, and then some. If it seemed like he couldn't do this more while being president, wait until he doesn't even have to pretend like he has a job.

He's got a legion of batshit minions waiting for him to tell them where they should direct their anger for the next several years. But not as many people are taking his puerile, manipulative coup as seriously as it seemed like they might, so I'm not as concerned about immediate danger.

Ga. up 4,263 for Biden after the recent ballot dump. A recount won't save you, Donnie. ;)

One of my hopes is that a lot of the protection he has received as President will be removed -- not just in regards to legal issues but violations of social media policies. I don't know if Twitter has the balls to kill his account, but...welp, there it is.

He'll still be a problem obviously, but maybe if he is dealing with criminal charges and whatever else, he won't have time as much time or platform to spew this nonsense.

Yeah, I think the extreme right will get more militant. Some of the crowd-joiners will stand down, but the really serious fringe will take it as guerilla warfare and are capable of anything. I'd definitely increase security on Biden.

Yeah, recounts won't really change anything, I think they're just trying to throw as much accusation and shit against the wall, hoping to control the narrative with their followers (and create an insurgence movement of some level) and/or that something might stick.

Honestly, talk about snowflake behavior. I read somewhere that his staff were having to discuss who would "break the news" and have a hard talk with him about this. Like, he's a grown man in his 70's. This should be embarrassing for many people, but all they do is double-down.

Trump allies reportedly discussing who will have to break the news of his potential loss

To this day, the first 40 seconds makes me laugh:

Really, it speaks volumes. No one wants to 'poke the bear'. ;)

FFS. This is why we have a leader who is still in his terrible two's. No one ever was willing to tell him 'no,' and then stuck it out when he'd cry.

I hope I am not celebrating too early.

I guess it's either a celebration or a hell of a last meal.

I celebrated this morning when I woke up and turned on the TV in bed. There's no turning back, this is just playing out the process. And getting ready to POKE THE BEAR. :D

A tearful and clearly traumatized bear sits sobbing on the stand, while a judge offers a box of kleenex while the defense attorney says: "It's okay, show us on this Teddy Ruxbin doll, where they poked you."

It is still up on the air. Calling it prematurely might end up disappointing yourself, or worse...not that it's hard to see the writing on the wall- but still, its a good principal. I think it would be terrible if it happened, but if he ties it up in court for too long with all the malarkey it might come down to a judge, and a judge might just hand him reelection. And then we're really fucked.

Is this the first time Hate has won an election? Could argue hate for hillary put trump in office, but a lot of people were voting for Trump as well. Nobody cares about Biden, he's like a thin shell of a dementia addled career politician. More people came out in support of Hate for Donald Trump than came out in Love for Barrack Obama. That's pretty wild.

Just wondering if the votes from members of the armed forces currently abroad that have still to be factored in could make a difference at this stage in the process.

"The jury only saw jolly Teddy Ruxpin being poked by the prosecutor and thought little of it; but inside the bear's eyes, if one could look carefully, they might have caught (if they had cared) the hint of deep wells of sorrow, misplaced trusts, and painfully lingering ghosts..."

I remember in 2004, a lot of people voted out of dislike rather than because they liked the Democratic candidate. The candidate was picked because people thought that he, having served in the military (he "reported for duty" at the convention) had the best chance to beat Bush; I don't even think that the people who voted for him in the primary particularly liked him; they just made some rationalization along those lines.

It wasn't enough then. I think it was enough now because of Covid. It's hard to sell the idea that you made America Great Again when things seem worse than they could ever remember. It's probably the biggest change to people's lives that ever happened in their life time. The U.S., having an epidemic of Si, finds it hard to deal with that kind of disruption of everyday routine. Then there's the issue of the deaths and the unemployment/closure of businesses.

If Trump had handled that better (hell, even if he sent a second check to people before election), he probably would have been re-elected; disasters often help politicians because they look like a reassuring father figure or something (I don't get it, either). Lots of people don't care about stuff like Russia. The impact of the virus is so much more direct.

I think people wanted him to do his job and protect Americans, and they feel that he failed to do that. I think denying it for so long really didn't help, especially after it came out that he probably knew about how bad it would be.

You misunderstand. It isn't hate that voted against Donald Trump. It's love. Love of our country, love of our institutions, love of our ideals. Love of the truth. Love of the rule of law. Love of decency and honor. It's love, not hate.

If you think it's about hate, then you're accusing those of us who voted against him of putting our feelings about him above love of our country. This could not be further from the truth.

Donald Trump will continue to show us who he is over the next several months. He will continue to put his own interests over the interest of our nation. But I fear the great irony will be that the more frenetic and diabolical he becomes, the more (some of) his supporters will be convinced of his righteousness, of his love for them. Because he'll sell it as though he is fighting for them and for the country.
