That's exactly what I'm talking about, you just worded it better. Sometimes they get so hung up in making sure their own and their allies meet their criteria that they lose sight of the bigger picture. Many of them are refusing to support Biden now because of the Reade allegations, at least based on what I'm seeing in some of the progressive groups I've joined on facebook. There's a good chance we'd have a real progressive nominee now, for instance, if there hadn't been so much infighting between the Bernie progressives and the Warren progressives. I'd take either over Biden right now. But I kind of wish neither Bernie or Warren had run and instead both put their support behind a younger progressive to take on the moderates.
This suggests intolerance isn't an inherit aspect of leftist ideology. If progressives ever got over exactly what it is that causes them to eat their own, would they still be progressives?

This reads like a bizarre sort of religious conviction. I just thought you should know that.

My question wasn't rhetorical.

If the fundamental distinction between left and right is individual liberties and responsibilities vs group liberties and responsibilities, how can the left tolerate the inherit disipation of particular groups (their cornerstones) by tolerating individual distinctions?

Behold the pure manliness of Trumpism as opposed to feminine social democracy. My Little Pony is the apotheosis of conservative values and rational free thought.

This reminds me of the 4chan April fool's day, were they merged boards. /pol/ and /mlp/ were merged into a glorious trainwreck that caused a lot of political pony fanart from Nazi and Communist, to no tread and anarchists. Was entertaining.

No, and I’m so damn done with this question about anyone or anything, really. The first step to being useful is to stop calling power great. No more pedestals.

What are the objective hall marks of greatness these days anyway?

What was it that had people convinced it was not great as it was?

In the good olden days we flew jet fighters emblazoned with Budweiser logos while gloriously bombing brown people into freedom

President Presley invented rock and roll and we sent Rambo to finish the Vietnam War

Andrew Jackson personally beat every Indian brave in MMA style combat.

Lindbergh flew to the moon and back, stopping to burn USSR flags for a live television audience before flying back and writing the screenplays to Top Gun and Iron Eagle

President Jason Robards personally ended segregation and signed a bill guaranteeing liberty forever

Ted Nugent bravely killed an army of communist bunnies when they invaded his freedom ranch where he wasn’t actually ranching, but rather working on his formula for ranch flavored lite beer

After Rambo singlehandedly ended communism in south east Asia, his brother Rocky Balboa went to Moscow and defeated Gorbachev and the ghosts of Lenin and Stalin in a boxing match.

Reagan and his VP Pat Boone released a Christmas album featuring rap covers of old holiday standards.

The color pink was determined to be legally gay

Our British allies elected James Bond to parliament and he became prime minister, helping to defend our freedom on the European front

US visitors set to remain banned from entering EU | World news | The Guardian

The list, which will be updated every two weeks, is only advisory and EU member states can deviate if they wish. But the capitals have been warned of the dangers if they go their own way and expand the number of countries from where travel is permitted.

Very sure Finland isn't going to deviate since they won't let Sweden in either. We'll give it another try at the end of the year. Maybe our kids will get to see their grandparents someday before they die.

A thread repeating all the same stuff other people have already said before. Just what I wanted to read.

I like Trump, and I'm in my early twenties. But I'm not a Republican. I'm an independent. If Biden were to win, I'd be categorically disappointed, since he's a cockshit idiot. I like Bernie more, but I think he dropped out of the race. I'm not paying attention much to politics--never have and never will.

Trump sucks because he has no bedside manner. He's a spoiled brat of a man, a three-year old in a suit and tie. But that allows him to lead around Pence with an air of unpredictability but firmness that Pence never matches.

Trump does know what the issues are from the standpoint of capitalist, free state America, and I believe he's quite smart. He just never matured past the age of 4.

Supporters of Trump don't belong to a cult. I don't say that because I am one (secretly). I say that because Trump's policies make sense in the context of the spirit of America and its traditional politics. It's only the people who are full anti-Trump (in other words, against everything capitalist) that take issue and cause the drama. If anything, Trump is more egalitarian than the best of dems. He'd probably make it rain all over the people that support him. Can you say gold chains and dough?

I hope he wins in 2021.

Should he not, we'll be in store for more failing Marxist bull-and-cock shit.

This is a joke, right? I mean...it is a joke, but was it meant to be?

Meanwhile the coronavirus continues to ravage through the country with no real plan from the federal government on how to combat it. Rent moratoriums are coming to an end soon, along with the boosted unemployment benefits. Early and aggressive reopening in the south has prevent to be the disaster we thought it would be. 500 billion in taxpayer money went missing and any body who tried to figure out where it went was fired. And as of this week we find out one of the most aggressive foreign governments toward our democracy has been paying terrorist regimes to kill american soldiers, all while our president does nothing about it and actively pushes for said government to be invited to the G7.

Trump isn't a bad dude, though. Just a little bit of a potty mouth but overall OK.

So what do any of you think will be the consequence for America's greatness of all the deaths through naivette and stupidity during this pandemic?
