See I think there are some truths to this post, but let me be real.

I think both parties have moved SO FAR away from center, they are BOTH capable of fascism, and I feel no matter what we are fucked. I feel we are close to civil war at this point over political parties, which is bonkers but true. I think many are blind to a certain reality here.

TRUMP was the start of a revolution. People are saying there needs to BE a revolution, but Trump was the other side starting THEIR revolution. They are revolting against SJWs online who are not even close to 50% of the population deciding what the majority should do, be, or think. America was built upon the values of individualism and while I consider myself a democrat, I positively find it disgusting how much gatekeeping of thought happens from both sides at this point. If you think we should have better healthcare you're one of those SJW snowflakes, if you think the borders should be controlled more you're a racist xenophobic asshole. DID YOU EVER THINK THERE'S SOMETHING CALL FUCKING LOGIC?

There is no center or moderation anymore. I see people calling "centrists" a disease. I see people insulting sexual assault victims who are uncomfortable voting for either candidate. Do you realize how cruel and sick BOTH of your sides are?

For 2020 I am voting neither. That is my revolt against a party system that has circled and in reality, they're both in the same exact place, they're just using different talking points. And anyone ok with this being the status quo needs to reflect and introspect to realize they are actually helping things get worse.

One thing I want to point out is there has been 50 years of - it's the government! The government sucks! The bureaucracy sucks! - drilled into everyone's' head. The government is not the issue. The people in government are and that's where party doesn't matter. The people in both parties suck, but not equally. Both sides are not equally prone to fascism and both sides are not equal when it comes to ability to govern. Both sides are owned by wealthy donors and corporations with lobbyist equally. Add things like Citizens United, the legality of dark money and legal anonymity of donors and this is what you get.

But where they are most equal is that neither party works for the people. They claim freedom and equality but bathe in oppression and inequality on a daily basis. Both parties want you to have means tested austerity but lavish every resource if you are a cooperation or a military contractor or a casino owner. With the exception of a very few outlier politicians (who everyone should be voting for) the smash and grab of the Trump administration will simply continue. It might be more polite but it's going to continue since we as a country have now allowed it and politicians only do what is tolerated by the people. Which is currently anything apparently.

I despise the bothsideism arguments because it creates an echo chamber where the tendency to treat opposing sides present equally strong arguments, or are equally valid or equally dangerous is off the chain. False balance is a media bias that needs to die immediately. Whataboutism is just a propaganda tactic. Conservatives do it regarding the most vile, criminal element in our society, bent on making the founding values of this country null and void because they are generally white conservatives like them. Centrist libs do it when it fits their narrative, like Joe Biden is probably a rapist but so is Donald Trump. It shows one group is more focused on the identity of the offender, libs are more focused on the optics surrounding the offender.

I absolutely agree with a great deal of this point - most people in congress do not work for us, they work for the "3rd party", the lobbyist and donors as you state. In that sense, it is one of the reasons I still somewhat like people like AOC, because I don't feel she's being run by a lobbyist. I feel she is just stating what her people from where she's from are looking for. Any politician straying from that lobbyist status quo is a win. But how can I guarantee the one I am voting for President is in fact, not going to be run by those lobbies? And in my eyes Trump thinks he can get whatever - he probably was a sort of lobbyist, and since he is now president he is his own lobbyist. And his ideas are really fucking stupid.

I hate that we have allowed "anything" at this rate because now we have these two...absolute SHIT fucking candidates to choose from...and you have this argument of "well come on is Biden any better than Trump" or "Vote Biden anyway or you want this country to fall into racist homophobic disarray" Did everyone consider it is not so...black and white? I sadly do not feel morally comfortable, citizen wise comfortable, voting EITHER of these people into office. Similar arguments were used in 2016 yes...Hilary had a history as well...but I voted Hilary because Trump really did repulse me more. I then just got...beyond fucking sick of the media bias, the idiot hysteria who bitched about EVERYTHING and didn't even go vote, and this election they still didn't get off their damn asses and do it. I am frustrated we even have Trump. I'm especially frustrated now that my options are thing 1 vs. thing 2. Biden has a sketchy past voting history and is inconsistent, cannot even remember what party he's voting for, he has been known to be "grabby" and the "Uncle Joe" joke existed for long before this campaign. I do think it is kind of ridiculous that anything to do with Trump offering someone is met with complete media coverage and I've struggled to find anything being unbias about the sexual assault case with Joe Biden. I want facts, not the media trying to persuade me to ignore it because its the Dem candidate. For God sakes I want someone to come back and make a legitimate campaign. I don't want EITHER of these fucking idiots.

I don't think a sex offender of any kind should be put in public office when we need some better things done to ensure victims of this kind of thing are safe, heard, and not harassed to an immense level. the rate people are sexually assaulted, the amount of sex trafficking that still exists in the "greatest country in the world" depresses me. I agree sadly, especially with all the publicity, that some have used this accusation for revenge, attention, etc. (just look at what's coming of Amber Heard vs. Johnny Depp on that front), but that is why I desperately want someone to give facts without a bias. Everything's being twisted as "Biden's accuser did this to make him look bad" well... Did she? Do you have proof? Where is the evidence? The details are shaky and few are reporting it while we get a giant trial and full coverage of other ones to MAKE an honest assessment on. All this will do is make victims feel worse, and I am absolutely fucking sickened by some of the hardcore dems right now telling assault victims they're selfish or bad for feeling really uncomfortable voting for Biden, when some even mentioned one of the biggest repulsions they had to Trump was his "grab'em by the pussy" crap. Oh don't worry that is etched, BURNED, into my memory. Him basically suggesting he'd fuck his daughter? Yeah, not forgotten. One of the BIGGEST reasons, besides his horrible environmental policies and his belief in stop in frisk, I wouldn't vote for Trump.

And really, do "optics" matter so much because as far as I've seen, everything Trump says according to liberal media is wrong, even in the rare occasion he is in fact right. When he shut down China travel he was called racist and told not to shut things down. Matter of weeks later media slams him for not reacting to coronavirus soon enough. It HEAVILY sounds to me when the name involves Trump, and anything related to Trump, the "identity of the offender" matters way more than the "optics" of the person. The "optics" of "well it still won't be this bad..." only matter if it is our candidate apparently.

I don't know if I consider myself as far left as many young dems are today, but I even chose democrat in my own primary. Which won't happen considering this is a very republican state, but, aye.

If anything the most die hard alt-right republicans are anarchists who want no rules, free militias. We have lots of 'em up north in Idaho. the state is constantly trying to run the "bundys" of the North out. and now Bundy is here too also. Maybe it is because I've actually had the...not so honorable...ability to SEE what the alt-right is here. XD

I don't think the GOP or their voters or conservatives in general care about optics at all. There isn't really any reason for them to do so - Trump is an optics dumpster fire and they align obediently with him. Liberals, on the other hand, care greatly about optics for the most part because they care about how they are viewed. For the most part. But their leadership is completely tone deaf to reality. Libs think they are bringing everyone under one umbrella with their policies but they're ridiculous and laughable, which is why they have no solidarity. Conservatives appreciate authoritarianism in themselves and others and do what they're told.

The American version of the alt-right wouldn't survive one day in a true dictatorship or totalitarian county. The Bundy's subscribe to the sovereign citizen ideology. That isn't alt-right, they do feel they can take whatever and use every benefit of living in this country, minus following our laws and paying for what they use. They've claimed themselves to be non-Americans so my feeling is that they should be treated like non-Americans.
