Who killed/tortured these muslims? I doubt that it was people with no religion at all, it was probably some group formed by another religion by a war rooted in religion.
My point is, anyway, simple: They should have an internal part of their religion that is "radical" and works in the mindset of a supremacist (mostly based on religion or race), and generate suffering for others for the sake of their religion. They probably are one of these religions where you are only "saved" and go to heaven if you subscribe to some sort of instituition and subscribe to one or a few special books, which all must be spread to "save" everyone, and if these everyone doesnt accept it... Well, "they must". I dont think I can be even more clear than that.
