Genuine question: What do you guys think about the stories that the world is going into another deep economic depression ? (due to trade wars and political chaos, bad investments, social instability etc.)

Keep in mind, you're trying to explain global economic and social chaos to a group of people that like to fantasize nothing outside of the US matters. Nothing but millions of MS-13 at the Mexican border, claimed by a bunch of people that have never been anywhere near the Mexican border.

Beyond that, this is inevitable. In the US the monster capital spending promised due to corporate tax cuts (lol) shockingly never happened, GDP is slowing down no matter what the morons in this administration say, manufacturing and services are slowing thanks to trade bullshit, The USDA has told farmers to fuck off and die (literally). The UK, has a lawless PM that needs to be in jail and a bunch of hedge fund managers that are salivating at the idea of no regulation, low tax, hard Brexit and rolling the dice on the demise of the country. Everyone else can have the scraps.

Or it's just Tuesday.

Yes but I'm betting at least one of them will pipe up saying - they have no idea what anyone is talking about. And maybe cite some econ data that's basically worthless in the current world.

Actually the question wasn't really aimed at forum Trump supporters but everyone else. I know some things about economy but I wouldn't call myself an economic expert, especially when it comes to "technical details". However from what I am seeing is that a fair amount of videos and articles are coming out on the topic of another 2008 style crash in US (and abroad). What isn't surprising because pretty much everywhere where you look there are serious political turmoils.

The question was actually practically minded, since judging on the news I should prepare for all this. I am from the place that is dependent on tourism for private income and if global mess fully hits the demand will crash and at least 10-15% of local GDP will disappear before you blink. What could also easily be the final nail in the coffin for our economy based on private ownership. Since with this already huge public sector would come to or pass 2/3 of the GDP if you include foreign governments ownerships into the mix (while the rest will probably need various subsidies). The place will live but western "values" will be lost in the mess. I am still watching all of this exactly because this inner mess in the US is having profound effect in these parts. Since this could indeed kill the private sector and leave just large public economy to reorganize itself and fill in the holes.

(yes, this is drama)

Looks like a lot of Trump's GOP senator supporters are tearing into him for this.

They realize there's an easy solution, right? How much does it take to push them over the edge, or are they just making self-righteous noise?

My god, I don't even care what party -- the past few years have just really shown how much noise Congress makes without actually doing shit to resolve the problems at hand. It's like King of the Hill, with dems wringing their hands about charging up the hill, while reps dislike their hill but know it's better than being at the bottom and so are now bemoaning their crappy seats ... while nothing ever happens. Meanwhile structure and process and precedent is being substantially dismantled to adverse effect.

Self-righteous noise of course.

Dems are useless and can fuck off, GOP is a crime syndicate and need to be treated like one. Vote for Bernie. It's the only way to save the country at this point.

That's unfair. The voters kept the GOP as the Senate majority. If the Dems had control over the Senate, things would be different. Trump owns the DoJ (Fixer Barr), stacked SCOTUS and bought the Pentagon.

Sanders had a heart attack last week.

If I am not mistaken we had this situation some time ago and they managed to talk Trump out of it. However last time Kurds quickly started to get more friendly with Assad, like "you are technically our government ... perhaps we should stand together, .... etc". What is the call that Assad supported by Russians will probably accept. After all with this he basically gets his country back but the country will fully flip towards "the east". I wouldn't even be surprised if China rebuilds the whole country. Also since it isn't a secret that Turkey, Russia and Iran are actively talking about the Syrian mess it could even be that Turkey is deliberately pushing Syrian Kurds towards Assad and Russians. What would probably push Kurds in Iraq as well towards "the east". This is probably why USA is giving everything to the Saudies and their satellites at this point, since they are the last stable Muslim ally in the region. While without Middle east you can pretty much forget about Petrodollar and it's large benefits to the US.

The extra inconvenient factor is that some countries (like mine) had oil fields in Syria, so the only way to get those back will be to get even closer to Russia. What they will probably use as a leverage. This is probably why even Republicans are shooting at Trump at this point. Because US promised that Syria can't go wrong and that everyone gets to keep the oil fields or whatever they have there. Therefore everyone should support US in Syria, but they didn't expects direct Russian involvement. The wider story is probably complete diplomatic embarrassment of USA and Trump since he didn't make those "deals" just doesn't care about any of this. There is a million ways how this could harm USA.
