Tron 2 is far inferior to the original, though, even on an aesthetic level. Wachowskis should have done it. I don't give a shit about Speed Racer and they made that interesting.
it really bugged me that they skimped on the aesthetics given that with the original tron the aesthetics were the main pull of the film to me. even theough the effects should have been better, it felt like they were missing something. sometimes I fear for cinema being able to have lasting quality.
It just looked so boring.
All things considering I do genuinely feel that Trump has been rather brilliant with his ability to bait Democrats. Because for all the media hysterics and grandstanding that's recently transpired, even my liberal friends will readily acknowledge that there's virtually zero chance that Trump is removed from office via impeachment, and in the meantime, his base is invigorated and he continues to stand strong as a heavy favorite to win 2020. Personally I think it's going to be a landslide victory -- we've witnessed win after win for the Trump administration, and meanwhile, it seems all people want to talk about on this forum is "narcissism" or some other obscure diagnosis fabricated by partisans.![]()
He will lose. The country won't make the same mistake again
what if over 50% of the country who votes doesn't believe it's a mistake tho

Well, his approval seems to be around 35 to 45% over the last 3 years. Therefore the only real questions are will democrats make a decent counter and will people care enough to vote. Last time he barely won through the hole in the US election system and I am not sure that will work again if the democrats truly decide to win this time. Especially since he is no longer "new factor".
You have more faith in humanity and rationality than I do at this juncture. Also apparently a decent chunk of people want everything to go to hell. We are in a culture now where what previously wasn't ok is now just fine, and half the populace believes this. I greatly hope to be wrong. I also greatly hope everyone gets out and votes and doesn't pull the 'my vote doesn't matter' apathy card.![]()
I don't have much optimism either.
Too much cultural noise. Too much unreliable information and social media hi-jinks. Too much stuff in the moist underbelly of the dark. Too much of a base that refuses to consider new information. Too much confusion with the opposition, that simply can't agree on how to oppose and often accomplishes nothing substantial to actually affect an election, and people thinking they can just take their ball and go home. Toss in some well-anchored gerrymandering, a stacked SCOTUS, foreign interference, our marred/diluted cultural values, and all the typical crap that fubar elections, and ... hey, who really knows anymore? The entire system is broken and no one knows how to put the genie back in the bottle. Or cares to.
