it really bugged me that they skimped on the aesthetics given that with the original tron the aesthetics were the main pull of the film to me. even theough the effects should have been better, it felt like they were missing something. sometimes I fear for cinema being able to have lasting quality.

The Dem field has now narrowed to the angry commie Pocahontas and creepy Uncle Joe. The black voter base and union workers aren't enthused by Pocahontas and Biden is suffering from dementia. The election is still a full year away; can Joe survive a year long grueling campaign season? I doubt it. One more episode of blood squirting from the eyes and he's toast as well.

All things considering I do genuinely feel that Trump has been rather brilliant with his ability to bait Democrats. Because for all the media hysterics and grandstanding that's recently transpired, even my liberal friends will readily acknowledge that there's virtually zero chance that Trump is removed from office via impeachment, and in the meantime, his base is invigorated and he continues to stand strong as a heavy favorite to win 2020. Personally I think it's going to be a landslide victory -- we've witnessed win after win for the Trump administration, and meanwhile, it seems all people want to talk about on this forum is "narcissism" or some other obscure diagnosis fabricated by partisans.

Ok, let's talk about something else, the actual policy that is hardly a win (in my book). The federal budget is about 1 trillion in deficit, so it is no wonder that there are some positive trends. If you can't get anything done and 1/4 of your budget is deficit you really are a special case of incompetent. The real question is more like "Is enough getting done for the budget deficit of that size ?". After all this is basically a credit card spending and taxpayers will need to return all of that, plus interests. (while next year will probably be another trillion and public debt is already in red)


I haven't seen any major overhaul of education system that will allow massive and concrete reindustrialization of the country. Modern industry requires plenty of specialists and engineer as well as supporting infrastructure. You can't just improvise this.


No major/fundamental counters to opioid crisis.


I am just reading that the talks with North Korea basically collapsed and they are launching on regular basis at this point. The game in Venezuela obviously collapsed and the regime is safe for now. Turkey as a major ally shifted towards Russia to the point they are ignoring sanctions and they are buying Russian weapons and oil. China is still growing much faster than USA even with certain slowdown due to the trade war and the country is set to become largest economy on the planet (that trend isn't really diverted). The democracies in the Eastern Europe/EU are sliding back regarding the basic rules of the democracy and that puts Regan's legacy at risk (what evidently isn't in the interest of American people however you turn it). Iraq is again sliding into complete chaos and so is Egypt that is US ally. The foreign policy fails are fairly numerous once you get to details.


Constant changing and cycling of people in various positions surely isn't good, because with each change the new person has to grab all the details from the start and with this you are slowing down things or increase the chances for making mistakes. Plus if a number of people are doing something the odds are that their work wouldn't stack one on another.


He lost Congress in midterms.


If I remember correctly he tried a number of times to crash Obamacare and failed each time, what was swept under the carpet.


How can you be the leader of the world when the world thinks you an idiot ? You would be ok if the guy that represents your company makes people laugh at him or makes them roll their eyes ? Or you would try to replace him as soon as possible ? In this game giving fingers costs plenty of money.


There doesn't seem to be any improvements in food quality laws for which America is known. While most of infrastructure seems to be on hold, especially since there are no mass reindustrialization. However there are strikes and some moving overseas.



Therefore where did Trump really succeed ? In cheap ideological topics that "trigger the libs".
However that isn't really the main role of a statesman, it is nice bonus that you can trigger your opponents at any time but this isn't the core of what politics actually is. I just don't see "Win after win".

Well, his approval seems to be around 35 to 45% over the last 3 years. Therefore the only real questions are will democrats make a decent counter and will people care enough to vote. Last time he barely won through the hole in the US election system and I am not sure that will work again if the democrats truly decide to win this time. Especially since he is no longer "new factor".

We are in a culture now where what previously wasn't ok is now just fine, and half the populace believes this. I greatly hope to be wrong. I also greatly hope everyone gets out and votes and doesn't pull the 'my vote doesn't matter' apathy card.

I're read and watched explanations of how fb marketing machine was used to influence and sway numbers of people in the hundreds of thousands. Yet, even if that was the case, it would seem like nobody cares;like Trump is the new norm.

Anyone who is 'proud' to be American is delusional at this point. Now I've never been one who is 'proud' to be of my country, nor one to glorify it to the exclusion of the arguably much more amazing countries out there, but I have also been - up til the past 3 years - thankful to live in my country, and aware we haven't had the corruption and misery many other countries of the world have. I have up til recently felt good about many of the institutions we have in place. However that is changing, these good institutions are in the process of being attempted to be dismantled, and there's nothing wonderful approaching as our culture stagnates and crumbles and our leadership begins to approach that of the more corrupt and dictator-like leadership of the 'lesser' countries we have previously looked down upon. We are joining the fold of the shitty countries, even if it's just the beginning steps: one of the key steps being, a significant % of The People being ok with current leadership and even going to the extent of justifying it and not condemning it for the monstrosity of an exemplary human being and leader it is.
