[MBTI General] WHy do people think I am an extrovert?

It's more of a spectrum, so in that regard yes, everyone would be an ambivert (especially function wise). Yet, the closer you tend towards the middle, the harder it gets to differentiate and hence, determine type......Someone at the extreme end (INTJ w/ highly developed Ni and undeveloped Te) would be viewed more strongly as an introvert than (INTJ w/ highly developed Te). Thus, development of lower functions can mask the effect of a dominant extroverted function and vice versa.

For this reason, I try to look at the order that the functions go in. So the difference between INTJ-Te and ENTJ-Ni wouldn't be so much who has more Ni or Te, but do they use Te followed by Ni, or Ni followed by Te?

Yes, of course the aux functions won't determine I/E....I haven't read into the theory, but I proposed that method since the idea of "spectrum" can apply to multiple concepts. Function development is determined by environmental stimulus....That is, if you're a Ti user and you're confined daily within a room of prominent Fe users (hypothetical), then Ti development will suffer since people tend to conform to the events that they're situated in....For instance, suppose you follow multiple different paths (butterfly effect)...Then your development & alignment of functions will differ per scenario...

Since you're INTP, suppose you wake up and everyone is ENTP (strong Ne)....Since you must adapt to the new situation, you will need to feed your Ne more frequently. Thus, your Ne function will gain more strength over time relative to a scenario in which there exists mixed personalities. Your associations can alter the strength of any particular function over time....Yet introversion will still dominate since that's your pulling function (function you gravitate towards)...Thus, from the above scenario you outlined, person 2 may be perceived more strongly as an extrovert than person 1, yet the dominant functions still overrules. The point I was attempting to make was that the "spectrum" may induce a masking effect, which can make it more difficult to pinpoint whether you are E or I.

That's like saying that an INTJ in a house full of ESFPs is impossible since the Inferior function would be more developed. Also, with I/E especially, you don't strengthen extroversion and become more E. It's not something you just...level up or something. Social skills, yes. Adaptation takes place...that doesn't give you more social energy reserves or determine whether you naturally prefer cognitive introversion vs extroversion. A person can be surrounded by Se their entire lives and still turn out with shitty Se, and around Es their entire lives, encouraged to be E, told I is a bad thing, dissuaded from introversion via social influence such as criticisms (snoody, stuck up, etc. for being quiet) and they are still going to be no less I than they were initially.

Yes, there is nurture, but there are other (and better) determining factors involved in determining I/E anyways even if you're more balanced in Ne and Ti for example. On a related note, I also grew up with Te being drilled into my brain and still am Ti instead, with a very clear preference.

Actually, people do alter the expression of their tendencies considerably depending on their socialisation. It's not uncommon for a male Feeler to come across as a Thinker due to cultural stereotypes, for example, and there are various reasons why a person might mistype themselves, and appear as a different type to other people, depending on what habits they formed regarding their function use.

If the brain is plastic (intelligence is fluid), then wouldn't functions behave similarly. Of course, people have preferences based on their natural inclinations, but other functions can be improved or repressed further depending on situation. Why have you developed Ti? Well, simply because you gravitate toward that mode of thinking and every situation your were immersed in facilitated the development further....Like for instance, advanced Math can be stimulating for Ti.

There's a direct relation between Te and assertiveness, so that makes sense....INFP's tend to have issues with assertiveness in regards to making decisions.

No, they just assert differently. Fi subjective values, authenticity, being true to self, is all a form of assertion.

Yes, it depends where you assert your energy. ENTP can be quite assertive by using their Ne to either get out of rough situations or expound their ideas. ESTP can be assertive when playing video games, exc....I just stated one instance/correlation.... That is, assertiveness is correlated to Te<-->(form of extroversion) If you create a function, there will be a relation here. Fi is internalized and rarely expressed outwardly, so it can be perceived as non-assertive on the surface, especially coupled with inferior Te. Also, inferior Fe can cause an INTP to fear rejection and hence, be submissive in regards to approaching other's because they may come across as odd. Therefore, the inferiority of extroverted functions (Te and Fe, specifically), can induce a negative response inversely proportional to assertiveness.

What people judge seem to affect you so much. Can't you just ignore them? It will exhaust you certainly because you "entertain" what they judge about you. Do you think telling to them that they are "dead wrong" about you would make them stop?
What matters most is not what people say about you. What matters most is who you really are. When you know yourself you should not be too bothered about what people say about you. Their opinion may influence you because you yourself may feel yourself a mistery to you and hence, think they may be right about you. It should be your quest to discover yourself.
