Have any of you mistyped before settling for istj?

Why did you mistype?

How an istj would mistype if they had been living under stress for a long time? Or depression?

Thank you.

I have mistyped a lot. I'll blame it on being 17 when I first came here.

When I first took the humanmetrics test, I got INFJ, then got a bunch of INTJs after that, though once did get ISTJ.

When I looked at the cognitive functions I thought I was INTP because I liked to think (domt Ti) and had some good ideas (aux Ne) was lazy (tert si) and was horrible at expressing my feelings (inferior Fe). That was my reasoning. I didn't truly understand mbti, and though of it as trait based instead of mindset based. Though many people have different ways of typing, so I'm probably INTP in someone's method.

I once thought I was ENTP because one source said Inferior Si leads to hypochondria, and I have been hypochondriac before. I think I also really wanted to be like some characters who were ENTP.

Then I joined Typology Central and made a type me thread with a questionnaire. Most people said I was INFP, so I went with that for a bit. It made sense because I could sometimes be emotional, and I loved to write. But I really did not think I was a feeler. Someone tend suggested ISTJ, I ruminated on that and thought it made the most sense.

However, I questioned my type again because I felt like other people's opinions about ISTJs limited me. I somehow rationalized me being an ENTJ. I though that I could potentially be an E because I saw posts on tumblr saying that many extroverts mistype as introverts, and wondered if I could be one of them, and I was becoming more talkative in class than I was before. I used to say nothing, but now I actually said things. I also thought that my new lack of doing homework was an inferior Fi thing.

So yeah, I eventually settled on ISTJ.

I'm not sure about the stress thing. It depends on how they acted when stressed. When I am stressed I tend to take care of myself as much and tend to do worse in school, so if you based typing on stereotypes then I would not type as ISTJ. But I was still just as ISTJ when stressed than when not stressed. Though if they were in a grip, they could mistype as ENFP.

Thank you very much.

That's my problem with that system, the mindset is hard to identify for others without traits, and a lot analyzed based on a few quotes or a couple of videos. I think only one can tell their own type, or core type, I see it more that way. It's true that reading you I'd think of Ti.

I have bouts of hypochondria and never thought a second I could be entp. The stack effect. The profiles are even worse IMO, misleading. Someone who has ideas can be an Si Dom just like someone who cries at movies can be a Te Dom. As for the mindset, it can be Si Ti Fi Fe, that's an example.

Have you ever considered yourself as "emo" ? Also, how do you usually gain knowledge? In what ways?

"Emo" -
No, more like "Goth".
...Long ago. As it turns out, I did like MCR and went to one of their concerts...
...I GUESS I still give subculture vibes though, coz of how easy it is to wash black and grey clothes together, but less emo/punk/goth than actually just plain "doesn't fit in and doesn't have enough $ to give a shit, and if I did have $, I'd probably still wear black/grey anyway", and light coloured shirts when I have to. Gave up trying to fit in any subculture long ago.

Knowledge -
I believe it is important to build a good foundation in order to construct a reasonable world view. I synthesize information from objective, empirical data, using inductive and deductive reasoning, heuristics, etc and form a big picture analysis that describes things in context. I guess I didn't even really have to do theory classes in order to do history, coz it's just something that makes sense to me.

I read what I can, and have accumulated enough experiences both from observation and from analysis over the years. There's things I'd probably admit to not knowing much to, but I can tell if somebody's being fucking dumb (usually in the guise of being "empirical", when what they're saying is neither empirical nor logical), which... Well. Anyway, that's about it!

Do you enjoy doing your taxes?

I'm a student now. When I was working, I didn't actually earn enough to qualify for super complicated taxation (it's automatically deducted every month and once a year we just send in the docs via the company instead of privately) but I can envision this happening if I ever have to file taxes:

...I can keep track of money and logistics if I have to (eg: If I'm paid to do it), but it doesn't mean it's not still soul-sucking.

Is it disappointing to you that ISTJs are humans and want live meaningful lives instead of living as servants and doing everyone's dirty work?

Okay, that was a bit harsh, and I think (hope) you were just joking around, but that is how some people truly think that is all sensors are good for. If anyone thinks one group of people is only good for menial work, then you do not respect that group and should be. ashamed of yourself. Be watchful of this is mbti ever become legitimately important.

How would you describe the difference between what you know as introverted thinking and introverted sensing. I ask because both are things done internally and not as easily noticed whats going on externally. Looking for personal perception/opinion, not some pre-defined mbti definition comparison.

I feel as though Ti is more organized and "set in stone" than Si. Ti also seems more detached.
