A depressed 7 is one of the saddest sights ever with the constant chasing your own tail thing. :(

Nothing is good. I'm not good. It's hard to stay hopeful when it feels like there are such disappointing limitations on depth of connection with another human and on goodness in general. Also I feel constantly misunderstood, appearing flexible and happy, when really I'm striving so hard to find a place where I don't need to flex as much and can just exist and grow.

Lol how's that Masokissed?

Oh, depression. When I'm depressed, I start to feel like the walls are closing in on me. Not literally, the metaphorical walls. The walls of existence itself. Like there is nowhere to go. Nowhere to run. Nowhere but where I am. Like there are no opportunities for anything other than what I have at the moment, where I am at the moment. It's suffocation and stagnancy. Fear of stagnancy and of being trapped, I guess. I have a low-level of that all the time, but it doesn't take over like that unless I'm stressed.

Yeah, I copied that from my other thread LOL but it's my problem.

I also stop showering and develop a consistent body odor problem. LOL

Just kidding. The body odor is inconsistent.

Yeah. It's more like getting your tail stuck in your mouth and being unable to get back up. Realizing the tail is hairy and nasty. Then you find some different tail, not your own tail, eat some booty... Back at it. 7s are the strongest people.

Poor thing. Some 7s never get their attention spans back. Some 7s never had one.

I'm never ever depressed. I prefer to kick the ass of the ones that will try to trap me with stupid rules and (probably unconsciously) misunderstand my own need for freedom :ninja:

If I feel threatened I can be a cold bitch. Well let's say in a polite way a cold frog :puppy_dog_eyes:

After the 1st depression, if you have a good survival kit you must know how to fight or at least ignore what pisses you off.

I prefer to be alone and feel happy and quiet than having my own values/feelings crushed.

The hardest part for me right now is acknowledging that I'm still pinning my happiness on things outside of myself hoping they'll fulfill me. It's still hard for me to try to become my own source of happiness.

And it sucks because I knew this was a problem years ago and you think it goes away, but then you realize you ended up chasing your own tail like senza tema said and you realize you're still empty.

My enfp is a 7 and I see a lot of what you say here in him.

He suffers with depression. There is a feeling of time running out. Yet, no sense of urgency. 7's are super stubborn, too. From an outsider perspective, I think they want to be the ones to solve their own problem - because they know what it is. At the same time, that in the moment, pain avoidance thing has complete control and undermines the 7. Keeps a bad cycle going because it is so ingrained and they would have to be uncomfortable (in pain) to get out of the cycle - which they won't do!

I sometimes wish the 7 would relinquish a bit of control over themselves (how I see it - interesting because they hate any control by others but are doing it to themselves) and be guided (key word) by someone trustworthy to them to break out of that.

I'm surprised NFs were even tagged in this thread. Obviously, we become suicidal when depressed regardless of enneagram. (and yah...that's funny.)

Why is "guided" one of our key words ? :puppy_dog_eyes:
Hard to find someone trustworthy when you are anxious about your own freedom and much more:blush:

Huh, so other types enjoy being controlled by others, or at least don't mind it?

That doesn't fit my experience in reality, at all.

From what I have observed, 7's are the most proficient at hiding negative feelings from others. Which is bad because the no one can help if it isn't seen. I've never really been able to help 7's much when they are down, but that's largely because I am their disnetegration point (much like how 4's can't help me much in those regards).
