Yes. You read correctly. The name is Aphrodite Gone Awry for a reason. Okay, it used to be for a different reason (and still might be ) but for the purpose of this thread, I have gone awry in the sense of sifting the lust out of love, leaving the love behind. It is to make an enchiridion (handbook) for this entire forum and other seekers who choose either to be a disciple of our Lord, or just want to stop being a slut, and all that falls between.

And I'd like to explore this subject further because my father is not Zeus, but The Holy YHWH, or God. And now I am a disciple of the Lord, meaning I am an adherent who accepts instruction from Him and makes it my rule of conduct. At least I try to the best of my will and ability. This is a very lustful forum, as evidenced by the large amount of who's-good-in-bed threads, pictures of bare-chested-ripped-ab-male-movie-and-tv-star threads, and beastly-bestiality threads. So, with that said, I will begin by stating the 7th commandment: Thou shalt not commit adultery.

This is clear cut. I think we need to flesh out what biblical adultery is and so we will within the thread. Otherwise, if it falls outside adultery, I think the best way of knowing if it's okay to engage in or not can be summed up by asking the question,

"Is it love or lust?"

Saint Augustine said that. And he also gives us a wonderful working definition for knowing whether it's love versus lust:

"By love I mean the impulse of one's mind to enjoy God on his own account and to enjoy oneself and one's neighbor on account of God, and by lust I mean the impulse of one's mind to enjoy oneself and one's neighbor and any corporeal thing not on account of God."

If it's not adultery, but it is lust, it isn't holy, even if it happened in the OT.

I'm assuming you mean in a sexually immoral way? If not, there is an "ask God" thread where your question would be better suited.

The consensus seems to be that, yes, you can. But there are also places that Jesus relates that if you sin blatantly, after having knowledge of sinning, that it will not go so great for you.

Basically, if you WANT to sin, sin, sin and you've already been saved, that is a sign you need to reaffirm your commitment to Christ/God. If you have not been saved, then you might consider it...

If the Bible has been translated many times by humans, then might human error have obliterated 90-100% of the divine wisdom in the original words? Also we run into the mind-body problem. Yes. I believe sex is harmony on the physical plane. If we personify the forces of creation as divine parental figures, then as children of the gods made in their image (or are they made by us in our image?) we are sacred expressions of the divine because we contain both god and goddess essence. So worshiping the physical is worshiping the sacred. In my opinion, since you asked. As for love, it is harmony on more or different (depending on the type of love) levels of existence.

Can we really be sure of this without using circular logic (i.e. This is the correct interpretation of God because it says that God says it is), or is it just a matter of faith? Which do you have more faith in, the existence of human error or human ability to correctly interpret and communicate divine knowledge?

You are thinking in human terms. God is above all that. We cannot begin to understand his greatness. He is all we need. I believe we use the male connotation because males are dominant to females.

If God created the laws of existence, and God is immortal, then I would break God's existential law by annihilating him, and taking his place as the new Destroyer of death and destruction, rather than being another Creator of creation and life, as I have heard Nico say before something along the lines of nothing being cleaner than nothingness.

To cause such an act would end all suffering, for that is what life as we know it is, and in the execution of such a noble objective, one would ironically become the ultimate evil!
