Try making love to your pillow. It allows your thoughts to focus on one thing rather than wandering around and also, it lets you release any remaining energy inside of you.
Why not?Wow. I don't believe there is anything else to be said.
I would too, kill two birds with one stone. I wasn't being serious with that though. But the idea behind my response was, which was that perhaps there were too many things going on at once in the mind, which might help if it's focused on one thing. I usually play Sudoku before going to sleep. I find that helps me out.I read myself to sleep. And I don't hump my pillow, but if it worked I would
Not to be the new age weirdo in the room, but meditation* is pretty much designed for the express purpose of quieting or ignoring thoughts running through your head.
Here's the basic process: There are a bunch of things going through your head. Don't respond to them. That is, don't engage into them, just be aware of them. If you think of cats, just notice that you thought of cats, but try not to follow the tangent of cats. Just try to be quiet.
Naturally however, you're going to find yourself following some tangent. That's ok, just notice what's going on and try to get back to being quiet. You may have to remind yourself to be quiet many times. That's ok.
Over time it trains you to be able to control the flow better and pay more attention to what's going on in there.
It works, but you have to do it on a regular basis.
*There are different types of meditation. This is 'mindfullness' meditation. There are other kinds. Do some google searching. If you're just trying to get to sleep, don't worry about the postures and all that jazz.
