So my Christmas present to me was to view the Renee Witherspoon/Laura Dern film Wild. It is so amazing I want to see it again. The mom is probably an NF and the daughter some kind of SP, but it was so inspiring, so beautiful in cinematography, so obviously written by someone similar to myself (who also reminded me of my poor horrible sister who is at least in rehab this Christmas) , god I wanted to cry, I did at some points. I want to watch it again as a matinee. I was the only person in the theater on Christmas night, with smuggled malbec in a Nalgene water bottle. Christmas eve was for church, but Christmas night is practically limbo, to me it's Christmas but it's not anymore.

I am going to read the biography in the meantime. I think it would do me a lot of good to attempt to hike the PCT. This movie meant a lot more to me honestly than Big Eyes or Into the Woods, thus my unusual holiday choice.

I haven't seen it yet, but it sounds good. Have you done any backpacking? I know you work out often, so it should be an easy thing to get into. From the movie photos, it appears she was carrying at least 30-40 pounds. Even back then, it was possible to thru-hike carrying less than 20 pounds and still camp and sleep comfortably. :)
