Trump vs. Biden

The main problem now for Trump is that him being positive simply doesn't go well with "it is a hoax" or " it will go away". Especially if he gets a more severe case, what is actually likely due to his age and weight. Plus the rallies are off as it seems, what is big on it's own. Therefore I really don't see the point in lying about this, the pitfalls are just too large and gains questionable if there are even any. This is probably more of a reality catching up with the campaign than anything else. Not everything in this world is a hoax and sometimes reality just kicks in.

Yeah, pretty shocking. Who would have thought they would ever catch COVID?

Donald Trump, Melania Trump Test Positive For The Coronavirus | HuffPost

This has been an exhausting week to watch.

But yeah, curious about whether the debates will continue and whether either side will use the various developments to bail. EDIT: Weren't they having more of a town hall approach for the next one? I haven't read up.

538 is showing a move to Biden +8.0% instead of the typical +7.3 or so he has holding earlier in the week, now that we're a few days past the first debate.

That approval rating still confounds me, at 43% or so. I still have never figured out what makes a dent in it (I think the lowest I ever saw it was 38-40% or so). It seems to even inch up when I expect it to drop a bit.

Imagine having a Wikipedia page where your Occupation is listed as "Conspiracy theorist, fraudster, Internet troll".

"Blundering conservative operatives" is the best way to describe these clowns and Jack Burkman used his OWN cell number for these robocalls. Appropriate.

I like that they got charged. I like that they got charged by my AG even more. But if they are both tried and found guilty of state crimes, no pardon. Even better.

Two days after the debate, Trump condemns white supremacists and Proud Boys [Video]

President Trump called into Hannity Thursday night, to clarify comments he made during Tuesday’s presidential debate concerning white supremacist groups and the Proud Boys. Instead of condemning, the president told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by.”

Trump’s failure to condemn white supremacists and violent alt-right groups was the biggest headline from the debate. The next day, when he was asked by the press to explain his comments, he claimed he didn’t know who the Proud Boys were.

Almost 48 hours after he made the initial comments during the debate, Trump called into Hannity to set the record straight. “I have to say,” said Trump, “I've said it many times, let me be clear again. I condemn the KKK. I condemn all white supremacists. I condemn the Proud Boys.”

While Trump was willing to condemn the groups, when it came to the Proud Boys, he admitted he didn’t really know what he was condemning.

“I don't know much about the Proud Boys,” said Trump, “almost nothing, but I condemn that.”

I'm convinced.

While...I'm not surprised Trump has covid...I somehow delusionally hope this will make him realize more help is needed...somehow I doubt it will though...he'll say the test was broken or something.

It's hard to tell what the truth of anything is, since typically nothing can be taken at face value. It's sad that things have come to this.

Does he really have COVID?
How sick is he, truly, or symptomatic?
Is it a ploy to get out of the debates? Or did he just luck out with a convenient, true excuse?
Is it a ploy to have COVID but not get very sick at all, to prove two weeks before the election that COVID is no big deal?
Why did they announce it when they did -- to beat leaks, or to capitalize on the situation in some way?

Again, it's sad. Presidents have lied before, but honestly any president from Reagan onward of any party who would have announced himself as being COVID positive (in this kind of situation), regardless of other issues, I would have generally taken at face value.

We just have to look at the rallies, if they stop he is almost surely sick. He simply wouldn't play with that if there is no real reason for it.

Trump claimed ballots were 'dumped in a river.' The reality is far from it.

I found it interesting that the Wisconsin ballots have trackable bar codes on them, I wonder how many other states do that.

There is a hell of a jump this year (not surprisingly) in the amounts of ballots requests and/or submitted.

from mail in here I don't recall there being a bar code on the ones in Idaho... that would be a good idea but USPS can't even promptly scan my packages half the time. XD

I kinda wondered like, what if until election, SATURDAY DELIVERY local got cancelled just to give them time to SOLELY do ballots? With a sort of government official around to ensure that nothing is added or removed? I have trouble trusting layman of both parties at this point to make this a valid election.

I was telling my mom yesterday I feel like no matter what happens - I'm going to distrust the election results. Whoever wins I will always feel unsure if they really did.

yes good point. I had thought of it earlier, then forgotten to list it. But he has a compulsive need for the rally format... plus a practical one.

Yeah I agree but I do think this will be an excuse to skip the next debate.

That's what they want you to think. That it's pointless and why do you waste your time voting? Failed states and third world countries do this for every election, if they allow elections at all.

Please watch this to the end, it addresses exactly what you are saying.

I was a little thrown-off by his tweet too announcing his quarantine. For a guy who was visibly spiraling off the rails for the last few days, I have trouble reconciling that with the cheery tone of his tweet... he has basically been hitting rock-bottom and going out of control. I have to wonder if someone else tweeted that from his account, because he was indisposed or not in the right frame of mind.

Has he kept tweeting? I don't follow Twitter.

Ok, but I don't really see the problem with that from the Democratic side.
He is the one that pretty obviously has catching up to do and he has to improve his image from the last time. Plus now everyone will know why he skipped it if that happens.

I understand that US is the land of paranoia at this point but is it really so hard to believe that Biden just got the Jackpot ? (politically incorrect word but let's call it for what it is)

I wish more people watched Beau of the fifth column. He addresses so much of what people are concerned about...

Yes. Yes it is.
A retreating enemy is probably just falling back and regrouping.
Or else they're trying to suck you into a serious ambush!

Oh lol I DO think this could be the jackpot for the Dems.

On a polling note, remember when you said Arkansas hasn't had a poll since June? Have you seen anything since then? Not that it matters much but other red states have updated polls.
