A man looks at his invention upon completion and contemplates if he should or shouldn't release it to the world. There are lot's of good uses for this machine, but there are also potentionally sinister uses as well.
The machine work by monitoring the brain while one individual is inside. It records the area's that are functioning, then a secound [or possibly multiple] individuals have their brains stimulated in the same area's from the machine.
The drive to create this was sharing emotions and feelings. That man has often had times where he experiences a great feeling inside while listening to his favorite song. I makes him feel better in every aspect of his life while he let's the music blare throughout his home.
He enjoys the feeling and wants someone else to feel the way he does. In the past he simply shares the song with another, but we're all different with different taste. No two people like the same thing the same way. So, he can't share the feelings that are so great, till NOW!!!!
He can listen to his favorite song, record his feelings in this machine and transfer them to someone else. An easy way to brighten someone's day, a very novel idea.
Splitting the atom was a novel idea too. Destroying most of Nagasaki and taking the lives of so many people wasn't such a novel idea.
Nor would a terrorist depression attack be. Imagine a bank robber makes everyone experience the shyness, hurt, and rejection of a man who grew up in a broken home reliving his fears as he examines a pictures of his alcoholic father while he's listening to a recording of the song his mother used to sing to get him to sleep. He remembers that horrible day, so many years ago.
He was 4, Dad was drunk. "Mother had it coming, cause she's been a bad bad girl!!!" Daddy yells as the cops drag him away into the back of the car. He was helpless, he couldn't do anything to help her. She was "Neglecting father" that night. Instead she decided to sing that song.
Now, he's taken all this hurt, all this pain and this helpless feeling. He's given the bank a nice little dose because he got his hands on this wonderful machine. This novel idea.
This man wishes people like that weren't so hurt. He wishes everyone could get along.
He doesn't want to, but he burn the blue prints. Next he dismantles his emotion machine. He doesn't leave a trace left.
He's sad.
He just wanted to share his best feelings with everyone else. He wanted to know how other's truly feel. He wanted true Empathy.
