Who gives a shit what Twittergirl wants? Find someone else.

She invited Netanyahu to speak in Washington in 2015 against the nuclear deal with Iran when Obama was trying to get it passed. I definitely had that on my list of good things Obama did, and it was something I did respect him for.

Can't you essentially circumvent the confirmation process by placing the person in the role anyway but under the position of "the acting ______", anyway?

I suppose, but this is Mr. "restore the norms." He probably would ignore them for something shitty like this, though.

Mr. "restore the norms" has acted pretty heavily outside them thus far into his presidency.

Show us on this dolly where that mean ol' Obama administration hurt you.

Is it possible Biden chose Twittergirl knowing full well she could get killed in the vote? I don't see the upside for him picking her.

Wow, have people already started the "Biden is doing five dimensional chess" bullshit? It was dumb when people did it for Obama, it was dumb when people did it for Trump, and it's dumb now.

Believe it or not folks, sometimes people in positions of power don't make the best possible decision. It's a cousin of the same nonsense thinking that 9'11 was an inside job, because there is no way our government could be incompetent enough to let something like that happen.

For christ sakes people, just because you voted for someone, that doesn't mean everything they do has to be utterly brilliant on a level mere mortals can't fathom.

I only brought it up because it's something I would do under certain circumstances. I don't consider it brilliant. It's just moving pieces on the board.

I don't have anything productive to say, just fuck Biden and fuck the Obama era bullshit that he is trying to pull. Most progressive president my ass.

As an outsider I am genuinely curious: Therefore I want to know what in your opinions Biden did wrong over the last month ? (judging by posts he did something wrong)
I mean media don't always tell the fully story.

Maybe good things can actually happen in the world!

Apparently she played a key role in Clinton's "welfare reform" and from what I've heard, it sounds like she wants similar "improvements" to medicare and social security.

She blocked me on Twitter but she isn't a controversial choice or a questionable choice. She is a fucking horrible choice. The Center for American Progress is nothing of the sort, she is the worst kind of leader (sexual harassments, verbal and physical abuse) and I'm fairly sure she was buzzed at her confirmation hearing. She is one of those Democrats that loves means testing, mass incarceration and "access" to healthcare.

The ONLY reasons she was considered is donor $$ and that she is a woman and a woman of color. They can do much better for the head of the OMB.

Her idiotic tweets that she deleted are kind of irrelevant and I don't think Joe Manchin actually gives a shit about them. But credit where it's due, it fucking rules that he dunked on her and if it sinks her nomination, that's a good thing.

Well, now he'll have to find another equitable person for his multicultural Cabinet BINGO card?

But seriously... with all that in mind... where a door shuts, a window opens. Opportunity to find someone better and look like you're negotiating.

You misread Stig's post/intent. I wouldn't include his post with the others at all.

Yeeeeeeaaaah. I have a problem with that Bingo game - as you might imagine. I have one rule: The best person for the job is who I hire. Always. Screw gender, age, race, or sexual orientation. And if you passed my unorthodox interview process and didn't cave under pressure when I ripped up your resume in front of you just to see how you'd react, then you made the cut. I do weird shit to see what people are made of. It saves time.

Joe's process is different. He stated long ago his team would look like America. Maybe that's why he nominated Neener Neener Neera - she looks like an American who spends far too much time on social media stabbing people in the back. ;)

It's the bait and switch for me. He clearly got elected by convincing leftists to compromise and get the bad man out. Now that he is in office, he is backing out of campaign promises and giving us watered down, useless versions of what we asked for. He promised $2000 checks and we haven't (and won't) get those. He promised to get kids out of cages and he's only increased cage size. He promised to raise minimum wage and now he's pretending it's out of his control.

I was a kid when Obama became president so I admit I don't have any personal gripes against Obama because I wasn't cognitive of his performance relatively to me. Though from a historical lens, it's undeniable that Obama ran on a leftist platform to invigorate voters only to not deliver at every turn. It's clear that Biden, despite his gaudy use of executive orders, wants to make things "normal" instead of making things right.

If you wanna be upset about anyone and far as the Stimulus and minimum wage increase go, your anger should be directed at Joe Manchin. Joe Manchin is the member of the Senate who is trying to be a moderate and appease Republicans by initially rejecting the $1,400 stimulus checks (people are even upset about this round not being a full $2,000, but even Biden said beforehand that the $600 was a down payment of sorts), as well as trying to curtail the minimum wage increase to a lower number. The problem you have is not a single Republican is voting to give anybody anything, so you have to convince everybody on the Democrat side to fall in line, so Joe Manchin effectively has a shit ton of leverage.

I agree we should hold our elected officials accountable, but I haven't really seen so far any issue he has outright reneged on that hasn't had other political aspects tied into it. I believe next week the House is bringing for the entirety of Biden's 1.9T proposal, including the increased minimum wage, to a vote, which it should pass. If Biden just wanted to have an excuse to throw up his hands and say it can't be done, they never would've went the budget reconciliation route so that the bill could pass with a simple majority-- if he didn't wanna do it anyway, blaming Republicans for not having the votes would've been an easy out as far as the optics go.

To me it just seems everyone's angst isn't exactly targeted at the right people. For someone who had the reputation as being a strong institutionalist, he has been pretty aggressive thus far in my opinion at trying to enact his campaign promises in spite of a split senate and really having no margin for error within his own party at the moment.

The only thing so far I haven't really been into him trying to factor race/ethnicity so heavily into his cabinet picks -- none of that should matter, as you pick who the best candidate for the job is regardless of those factors.

It's that type of intentional spreading of misinformation that has nearly destroyed our country. First of all, the 600.00 checks that went out were a down payment on the 2000.00. That's not my opinion, it's a direct quote. From Biden. It came out of Biden's mouth on TV at least 10 times, long before being sworn in. Yes, I actually listen to what people say rather than making up nonsense to suit a personal agenda. Furthermore, even Mitch-the-turtle-McConnell spoke on the Senate floor during the approval of the first 600.00 that he knew the incoming president would be asking for more and they could deal with that later. He saw no reason to send out 2000.00 at that moment in time. That's why when Biden got sworn in, the number became 1,400.00.

M-a-t-h.

He hasn't ripped anyone off. What is being negotiated now is the balance—which is what he promised— and which individuals will make the cut. Meaning, will they be individuals making 75,000 and 150,000 per couple or will it be targeted more toward those who are more in need— making less income than 75,000. This is what has been discussed among members of both parties. Clearly, you have little knowledge of how long it takes a bill to get through and passed. As a matter of fact, what you see as taking a long time has actually been seen as moving along faster than normal for a bill of this size - 1.9 trillion. And it's that pace which has caught people's eye and has been written about and discussed. So, if anything, what you are ranting about is the exact opposite of what is happening.

Further reading:

7 Reasons Why Your Second $600 Stimulus Check Hasn’t Arrived Yet – Forbes Advisor

Many Americans may have been buoyed by President-elect Joe Biden’s announcement that he plans to send additional $1,400 stimulus checks as part of his American Rescue Plan.
But millions of Americans still haven’t received their $600 second stimulus checks—and the deadline to distribute them is Jan. 15.

The date of the article is before Biden was sworn in. They have functioning ears at Forbes and heard Biden correctly. At no time did Biden ever approve a total of 2,600.00 for an individual. So, no, there will be no 2,000.00 checks coming after his being sworn in. Nor was there supposed to be.

As for the other false statements you posted, they're simply not worth addressing.

In addition to this, Biden has held his ground pretty firmly thus far (it looked like he was going to waiver for a second when he'd met with those select Republican senators, but once they came back with that $600 billion counterproposal he doubled down on his original income qualifications) on maintaining the originally proposed income qualifying thresholds capping out for families earning $200,000 a year, even despite opposition from a few members of his own party that wanted to cut that number down to reduce the overall size of the bill. Like I said, I get if we just wanna hate on Biden because it is fun to go against the status quo, but to dismiss him simply as trying to restore Obama era corporatist normalcy is a pretty big mischaracterization.

I'll probably be kicked off the life raft for saying this but thus far he has been leaps and bounds more progressive in terms of implementing policy than Obama ever was. Obama talked about, but when it came down to it he got so caught up trying to reach across the aisle to work with an opposition party that had little agenda other than to obstruct (once he realized this and starting growing a bit of a backbone, it was much too late into his presidency). Obama even described himself earlier in his career as identifying/agreeing with lots of early Republican era policies, which Hillary criticized him for quite heavily in the 2007 Democratic debates.

Joe so far doesn't seem to be falling into the bipartisan posturing trap of his democratic predecessor.

President Biden declares major disaster in Texas following severe winter storm

Whoa. Hold up...

Aren't you supposed to blame the governor first for the fallout? I can't believe he granted a "Red" state federal aid without making them kiss the ring first...Who does he think he is, the President of an entire nation and not just his political party?

This Biden guy is really starting to rustle my jimmies..
