Ted and MBTI errors

Yesterday I had on Mardi gras beads and I run into my friend Ted. Ted asked why I had them and said that I'm an NT and that NT don't do things like that. He wanted an explaination. I mentioned that I'm actually and NF, but that's beside the point.

I pointed out that it really doesn't matter what type you are. You are what you are. The descriptions of the types are not set in stone. I know lots of NT's that love to party for the sake of having a good time and lots of Introverts who like to have lots and lots of friends [I'm one of them]. But he doesn't seem to get it, he's stuck on this idea that NT's should be a certain way, and hasn't grasped that I'm and NF yet.
