That really wasn't at all a scientific test. One gut punch by two people is not a good comparison.

I don't know why people get so offended when people assert that guys are stronger than girls. Biologically, guys DO tend to be stronger than girls due to things like hormones. It's just the way things work and there's no need to be upset about it. It doesn't mean that every guy is stronger than every girl either, obviously (the basement-dwelling nerdy guy is going to be weaker than an MMA fighter woman).

This isn't meant to diminish women in any way. We are just different from one another. We have our own strengths and weaknesses and that's ok.

I found the following Mythbusters episode to be a far better comparison between men and women. It is by no means perfect, but still better than the first clip. In the show, they compared different people of different age groups and tested them in more than one way.

yeah I think the point is she had a more coordinated technique, translated power from her body through her arm more efficiently. the male subject did it as well, just not to the same extent.

Did you even watch the whole clip? The gut punch was silly and pointless, but they went on to measure the power of their punches in lbs of force.

Her body moved very fluidly prior to the punch. I wonder if they told the man not to throw a hook, or if he simply chose to throw a jab instead. In the second video, they measured an MMA fighter's response to adrenaline. Neither male really threw their entire body into it like she did, but the whole point was to hit the dummy as hard as possible. :rly???:

Her body moved very fluidly prior to the punch. Of course a person wouldn't have that much time to wind up during a fight. Weird...no, I didn't watch the whole clip, but I thought I did. My apologies. It would be better to watch a comparison with more people and with the same technique as each other, though, as you stated.

We are different yet we bond together in the most profound way.

My thoughts on this:

Maybe that specific woman was more qualified in technique usage, of course there are men who utilize technique more effectively than others, it can vary among men themselves, I don't think this study is reliable, but still interesting..
However I think once the person realize that they're in a weaker position or have less of strength, they tend to put more effort in their work or depend more on planning or techniques..
I remember when I was a kid I used to race with boys just to challenge my abilities since they're more capable of winning, and I managed many times to get some of them behind me, and have won once or twice, maybe just once, I sure put a lot more effort than all of them each time I did it, I used to feel running out of energy afterwards unlike them..
