Deanna Troi (STNG) has boyfriends that are even more annoying than Elaine (Seinfeld). They are always blowhards. 🤦‍♀️

IMO, re GoT (sorry, I can't find the thread, and GoT still makes me SO angry): the crowning point of no return for me was when Daenerys killed Varys. When Varys teamed up with her, he promised (something like) he'd never stab her in the back without at least trying to reach her directly first. That was very much consistent with his character, and it was actually a pretty great moment because it seemed like he'd found someone worthy of his counsel. His character had an idealistic streak (just like Dinklage's character, which is why their friendship was so endearing), and it was like he justified his own shitty decisions by reasoning he didn't have much choice because whoever was in charge was even shittier - and part of him was sad and disappointed about it. So anyway, it was wholly believable he'd finally found someone he wouldn't have to backstab - the few glorious redeeming moments in GoT were far and few between, so they were important. But when the time came? He didn't even TRY to go to Daenerys directly. He dove headfirst into the impulsive backstab, which kinda erased the best parts of his character. And Dinklage was all "whelp, what-are-you-gonna-do? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️" as Daenerys burned his friend alive.

That whole last season was truly just phenomenally so badly written.

The first two episodes of Creature Commandos are up.
I'm not expecting anything profound out of this one-shot season.
It's kind of amusing but pretty much just a way to pass the time so far, based on E1.

I think the use of video reference is a huge benefit to animated shows (and films). Not rotoscoping, but basically animators also serving as de facto acting references -- no different than painters and sketch artists who take model/prop photos to get their lighting correct while they are painting. They test out different acting choices and can build a performance incorporating the best approaches, versus that cookie-cutter shit that Hanna Barbera used to make animation cheap with rotating stylized loops but had little connection to reality (which showed).

RWBY also uses video footage and/or motion capture to get a sense of how to animate scenes and facial expressions, although its art palette is not as complex at Arcane.

It's interesting to me how Arcane seems a little "anime-inspired" in terms of aesthetic, and yet feels very solid and tactile. I enjoy this type of animation a great deal. It's 3d and yet it has texture and grit, while feeling like a painting.

When are we going to get Spaceballs 2: The Quest for More Money already?
Maybe when they finish combing the desert?

That was another Brooks film I didn't much care for -- except for the one joke with John Candy:
"Hi, Name's Barf. I'm a mawg -- half man, half dog. I'm my own best friend."
I still laugh at that one.

Well, also -- the other inspired joke was Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet, privately pretending with his dolls that he had bent the princess to his will, because he's entirely impotent otherwise.

I think the best jokes are the jokes about merchandising, and also the alien bit at the end.

Anything surrounding President Skroob is also great.

Thinking about classic Simpson's episodes reminded me of this one.

They stopped showing this for a while:

Crab juice -- gross!!

Of course Officer Steve has impeccable timing. He could have just bought a slice of pizza and peed there, if he was going to leave his car regardless lol

Watched the first episode of Black Doves on Netflix-- which was pretty decent. It's a six-episode Season 1 that was already renewed for Season 2.

Nice to see Keira Knightley back, along with Ben Whishaw. The dialogue is pretty snappy, but it's edited with a lot of confidence that can generate emotion in regards to still-evolving backstories.
