Lol, someone who actually watched the Snyder DC's!

But I'm also excited to see some other films on that list. The Animal Kingdom is now streaming on Hulu, as is Kingdom (apes film), and The Beast is rentable on Amazon.
The Beast sounds pretty intriguing...

If I have three hours to kill I might chew on Rebel Moon (Director's Cut).

good thing they spent 3 years in post for this.... (Blanchett was shooting this + Tar at the same time.)

If there are unfair comparisons being made to GotG for this, it's not the audience's fault -- they literally cribbed music from the latter films for their trailer(s).

Edit: it's Eli Roth. He might have buzz on cheaper horror flicks but I can't say he draws me to the theater, I dislike most of his films

I liked Cabin Fever, mostly for its weird sense of humor. I haven't seen anything else by Roth, though.

I once had a long conversation with a South American academic regarding Hostel. He felt it was an allegory for how many Europeans looked at Americans and the American empire.
Weirdly, I kind of liked the first one -- i felt like it was saying something on some level. I can see what you're saying.

They advertised the fuck out of this movie when it came out.
I keep hoping that it turns out to be a Mandella effect, like the cornucopia..but it keeps right on being this timeline.

Some dipshit in one of my movie FB groups saying that Alien: Romulus is going to tank. (It might, but his logic is below par.)

The comment from another poster afterwards notes that the guy is a total pill, because the original Alien film is totally "woke" with a woman (Weaver) as the lead, two trans characters, and pointed commentary about misogyny in the film itself.

Right. He was very thoughtful about all of it. He saw the resentment of Europeans for being treated as American satellite states during the Cold War and all of Europe as satellite states after the Cold War.
There is a lot of valid cause for resentment against America and Americans. Even a lot of the American diplomats assigned to countries don't know the language, the culture, or the history, and just assume anything America does is the best. This has been a major issue since WW2 but few Americans understand it well, but it makes complete sense.
And my friend was somewhat of a Marxist so his arguments had Marxist themes, but so much was also anticolonialism and how much resentment the colonized have towards the colonizers. Post WW2 the Europeans went from being imperial masters to colonized very quickly.
I went and watched the movie after the discussion, the only time I ever watched it, and was fascinated by how these ideas came out pretty clearly, turning an ultraviolent movie into a political thought exercise.

Don't forget Tank Girl!

The Howling III looks like it might be good. Did they get bit by thylacines before they all went extinct, though?

Riiieeeyzorback!

Anyway, Child's Play might be my favorite horror movie.

I'm just glad the kittens were rescued from the pie. And, I kind of want to watch this now? It looks like it might be goofy fun.

This is interesting, although I don't quite know what to make of it. I value having the new insight, though. If you think of understanding the world as being like a puzzle, we all have only so many pieces from the thing things we've read and watched, as well as the people we've known and the places we've been. These things are often different, so we each have different pieces. If someone shares a new piece with me, that's a gift. Perhaps if this happens enough in society, something might come come of it.

I've thought of something approaching this before, but I only had a vague notion of it.

I remember seeing commercials for this. It turned out to be a flop. Has anyone seen this?
I admit to giving credit to bad reviews based on how accurate they feel.

I remember this film just getting crushed vocally by the critic community when it dropped. Plus it's a Renny Harlin film that he shoved Gina Davis (his wife at the time) into. It cost about $100 million and only made $16 million -- which with advertising and whatever else caused a $150 million loss for Carolco, and the company had to CLOSE.

Yes, this fucking movie destroyed Carolco -- the company that occasionally gave us winners like:
  • Terminator 2
  • Basic Instinct
  • Angel Heart
  • First Blood (plus two less good Rambo films)
  • Prince of Darkness
  • They Live
  • Total Recall
  • Jacob's Ladder
I'm inclined to say fuck Renny Harlin and I still haven't watched this film, lol. I will give him credit for NoES 4, Deep Blue Sea, and Diehard 2 but pretty much don't care for the rest of his repertoire.
