Report cards today. Beast Boy's weekly behavior reports have been mostly Bs lately, so I was surprised to see the note in his report card that his "behavior is declining. He has recently started to disregard directions." Ruh roh.
I'm starting to be pretty sure he's an ETJ. He sometimes has some impulse control problems, but he hasn't been belligerent, insensitive maybe, but not belligerent.
The thing I'm worried about is that both my sons are smart, I don't know exactly how smart, but definitely smarter than average and both of them are logical.
This means they are going to eventually realize that they are smarter than a lot of the adults around them including their teachers. Beast Boy has already begun to realize how illogical a lot of the rules and other things at school are.
In addition to both of them being Ts, they have autism, so they are even less inclined to comply for the sake of harmony than they might otherwise be.
It hasn't been a huge deal yet, but I have expected we wouldn't make it through middle school without some problems. I kinda hoped it wouldn't start in fourth grade. Maybe it hasn't and I'm borrowing trouble.
If it has, I'm dreading dealing with it. Part of the problem is going to be that a lot of times they are going to be totally right and I'm going to agree with them, but I'm still going to have to convince them to comply.
Not looking forward to that. Not one bit.
I have a meeting this week with Beast Boy's speech therapist, who is also his 'teacher of record.' Hopefully between she, his classroom teacher, and I, we can get to the bottom of this and figure out what's going on. I'm hoping it's just a misunderstanding. Sometimes he misses cues or forgets not to blurt out whatever he's thinking. I can hope, right?
