ok so i was thinking and stuff and i was all like: what if long ago there were these people with a genetic condition that pooped dick and balls that functioned and went into the ocean but you know we can't get fish pregnant? well these could and so they'd impregnant fish than mermaids were born. but over time the people with the conditioned died out as did mermaids. like any hybrid they're sterile. so the mermaids couldn't reproduce with each other and so no more mermaids.
