Well, sometime Sunday when I posted, Kamino's right eye started to get pretty watery. I hoped it would go away over night, but it seems to be staying put for a little bit. From what I've read, this is a common symptom of URIs, so this could just be the next stage of his recovery. However, it's awful to see. When I came home today his eye was glued shut. It was easy to fix, but disturbing to witness. His eyelids are a little swollen too.
The good news is his eye is bright and clear, and it doesn't water 24/7.
I feel for him, because all last winter I had viral conjunctivitis off and on (stupid public and their colds). I know how his eye feels right now (like there's sand in it and the mild swelling causes it to be a little sore), so I understand why he's rubbing it sometimes or squinting. I think it'll clear up in a day or two on its own. I just have to make sure I swab his eye from time to time to keep the discharge from building up. Maybe tonight when he's sleepy I'll hold a warm, damp cotton ball to his eye to relieve the prickling.
The other good news is he's sneezing much less, wheezing only occasionally, and appears to have gotten ever so slightly taller. He's also discovered the novelty of jumping. He's like a little grasshopper. And he's eating like a machine.
