One of the best things about having a personal relationship with God is the ability to see His hand at work in my life. I especially love it when He proves to me (or reminds me) that He knows me personally... even the secret and unspoken desires of my heart.
For about a week now, I've been wanting some flowers in my house. I've been looking at the flowers in the grocery store and been tempted to buy them, but I haven't yet. Then Thursday, I was at work and once again, the desire for flowers flitted through my mind. I was going to say something out loud to my boss, but I figured if I said, "I'm in the mood for flowers," that she would probably go buy some just because I said something, and I didn't want her to feel obligated, so I decided not to say anything.
But Friday morning, when my boss came in, with her, she had a little bouquet of hand-picked flowers from her own garden! It reminded me of a hand-picked bouquet my husband had collected for me many years ago. When she told me they were for me, I burst into tears! They were so pretty and delicate, and there was a very fragrant rose, as well.
They're on my desk right here at my home, right now. The rose is so fragrant, I can smell it from here!
I just love the way God put it on my boss' heart to bring me some flowers. I think it's His way of showing me that He knows me personally... even the secret desires of my heart. And it makes me feel secure... knowing that He cares about the little secret desires of my heart, and He's paying special attention to me. I think it shows that He loves me and is looking after me... and it makes me know I'm not alone in the world.
