When I was in high school the only thing i cared about was getting into college, however a lot of bad things happened my senior year( parents kicking me out,not getting any scholarships, grants or any other money to go to school), and i wasn't able to attend and chose to take on a full time job instead.
Now i've been out of school for several years, and after applying for financial aid, i have been approved for a Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant! I'm really excited, especially since i've been feeling like such a failure lately. I've decided to go to a community college, instead of a university, mostly because my SAT scores were no longer usable, since its been over 5 years since i've taken it, and i didn't really feel like having to take that over again. I went to take the ACCUPLACER test on Tuesday. I managed to get a perfect score on the Essay portion, a perfect score on the reading section, but i totally bombed the Elementary algebra section, lol. I have to take developmental math classes that aren't even worth credit!

I'm still having quite a bit of trouble trying to decide what to major in, so far i'm thinking about; psychology, sociology, or teaching. Ultimately i would like to be a drug counselor of some sort, so i guess psychology would be my best bet.

That's great Scanitly! :)

I had to take math I couldn't use at first too and I made A's in high school algebra but for some reason I didn't learn the math well enough apparently. I never made above C in college level math, but psychology was easy.

About majors, my major changed around. I started out in biology, until I found out how bad I really was at math and how much math ends up being in biology, then anthropology, then history which I stayed with, but I wish I had gone into humanities or historical literature.

You are going to do just fine. :)

haha I also made A's in high school algebra, and i did very well on the mathematic part of my SAT's, but for some reason i have forgotten even the most simple things. I can't remember how to add fractions or anything, so i'm glad to take these non-credit math classes so that i can learn something. I'm hoping to take only maybe one of the developmental math classes, and then take the math portion again to see if i can pass it. I've also thought about going into anthropology, but i really think my calling is in a counseling field. We'll see if i change my mind 100 more times. :)
