I encountered a thread with the following subject:
Maybe it's just me but type 4's seem like one of the least desirable types.
My response:
No. I love 4s as a concept and the more I study enneagram, I realize the people I've fallen hardest for are mostly 4s and even the music I've loved most has been written by 4s or expresses 4ish sentiments. I'm a lover of the arts, music, written prose and self-expression in general. Without these I don't see the point of human life. That is what makes me more than just an animal: musicianship, authorship, art, expression. On a spiritual level this is the best thing humans have to offer. I don't see how anyone wouldn't see what 4's contribute to society or why self-expression at all costs would be undesirable. Do you know what I would give to be able to throw my armor to the wind and get down on my knees to tell someone I love them and beg them to stay with me and make myself vulnerable the way 4's do? I would not be able to do this even with a gun to my head. I love 4s and the way they draw out the emotion and vulnerability in me, and make me feel I can express these things. I love what they represent as expressive people - and how this can manifest in the arts, though of course any types can be artists - the qualities associated with 4: self-expression, romanticism, artistry... are holy to me. The taste of their tears feeds me life even in the darkest and coldest of times.
